Have you guys seen the new Chevy SSR truck???
Have seen two on the road here in Lost Angeles (one red, one yellow) and they both looked ugly.
Then last week I was in Rancho Mirage and saw three in one day. One blue, one black, and one red.
Now, let me qualify this...after my bad-mouthing the whole "retro" thing in the recent forum about the 05 Mustang, I will now contradict myself and say...I like this vehicle....
however...it does not look good in red or yellow.
It looks really cool in Black though....
But it is gutless. I'll take an L please.

Local dealer Bill Heard Chev had a pie shaped display of three of them in three colors if I remember correctly about 4 days ago.
Looked OK to me but then I am sort of a Retro guy anyway and I am looking forward to seeing the Retro 49 Suburban style clone that Chevy released teaser pics on earlier this week which I think will be based on the Cavalier passenger car replacement chassis.
They are not trucks but they are cute and will probably sell reasonably well.
BTW, the three that Heard had on display are all gone and I doubt that they were dealer traded or auctioned.

Doesn't look very functional but does look like a pimpin' ride. If you wanted to turn some heads this should do it.
I like the retro look and just about anything that pushes design creativity.
Even so, If I had the $$ to spend it wouldn't be on one of these.

I took the wife down to try one on for size. She really likes the style and for a Chevy , I must admit it looks kinda cool.
We didn't buy one for a few reasons.
1. Market value mark-up. The dealers are adding $10,000 to the MSRP of 45,000 making it 55,000 before the haggling begins.
2. There is no storage whatsoever behind the seats.
3. She wanted blue , like in the advertisements but they only come in yellow (extra price) , red and black.
4. There is no Onstar , she loves hers in the TrailBlazer
5. There is no cigarette lighter or ashtray , important thing for some smokers.
6. The tonneau cover only opens to about a 35 degree angle, so if anything rolls forward your on your knees trying to get it. Hmmmm ....maybe not a totally bad thing as long as it's her.
There was mention of cramped space under the hood, that's an under statement. The battery won't even fit in there let alone a supercharger.
The interior is admittedly pretty decent .
This would be a great car/truck for 35,000 but not 45,000 err... 55,000.

thanks, Shane

It comes with "traction control" which means that under slipping conditions it powers down the engine , like letting your foot off the throttle but faster.
It's an 03 model , the 04s due out the end of the year.
