Ebay/paypal question??
Ebay/paypal question??
Here is the deal...I recently won and auction on Ebay for some rims to go on my 2003 Supercrew. I got an e-mail from the seller and we worked out the shipping fee. I sent him the payment via Paypal Friday afternoon. I have not heard from him since. I know it has only been 3 days but is it unrealistic on my part to expect to hear something from this guy by now?
Is there anyway I can stop payment thru paypal or my credit card company? What should I do?
Thanks,

I would give them the benefit of the doubt with the holidays and all. Plus the guy is probably trying to get the stuff packed. Keep sending him emails. If it were me, I would prolly wait until the end of this week and then contact Paypal and Ebay. In the mean time you can look up your rights and how to go about filing a complaint through Ebay. Good luck!
I, as well, would give him the benefit of the doubt. How was his feedback?
The Christmas season will, inherintly, cause chaos and one's life to be turned upside down. I think it's probably a simple function of him being busy as heck just like all of us are.
Has the paypal payment been accepted by him? In short, has he taken the money that you laid on the table? (you can check this by logging into your paypal account).

Well, I would think he would have provided a phone number once you won the auction. Perhaps he is busy but when one is conducting business then those obligations should be first priority.
I would give him till the end of today to correspond with you through email acknowledging that he received your money through paypal and a date he plans on shipping your merchandise out to you. I would further inform him that you expect a tracking number to afford you the ability to track “your” merchandise.
Send him a friendly email now explaining what you expect to happen by the end of the day, that he has receipt of your money and what the shipping plans are. He should be able to, if he has the money, get to the post office within a day or two and get it shipped out.
If after you send a friendly email he does not respond by say tomorrow afternoon, then start calling your credit card company or getting a hold of paypal to see if the charges have gone through. If they have then I would send one more friendly email tomorrow afternoon explaining if you do not hear anything from him by the end of the day tomorrow you will cancel the transaction…

Paypal has their own built in buyers protections.... check their site for the newest info....
Second, if you funded Paypal with a CC, then you are protected by your CC company......
Lastly, ebay is a perfect place for scammers to ply their trade but if they are foolish enough to take paypal, then they are exposing themselves to a paper trail that certainly can be tracked..... but that is not to say the paypal users are always honest....... I bought a LCD flatscreen last year from someone and sent paypal using a CC........ got no monitor but I did get my money back through my credit card......... and he got the cops on his butt......
3 days is not gonna have any weight in any complaint at this point. All you can really do is check paypal to see if he accepted payment, check other auctions by your seller and contact others he has sold to, etc......
Good luck........

Thanks for all of the advice. I was just a little nervous about this whole ebay thing. This is the first time I have ever bought anything from ebay!
I received an e-mail from the seller late last night. He states that he is going to ship them today (Tuesday) and e-mail me a tracking #...we will see!

Some people I have dealt with on ebay are fast, they want lots of positive feedback. Some are just cleaning out and move at a normal pace. Some struggle to get it all done.
I expect it to be somewhat related to the item, with a set of wheels for a truck to be a good example of something that's not going to happen quickly.
Second, keep in mind that things can and will go wrong which upset your plans. People get sick or in accidents, realitives pass away, cars break down...
I have one guy who shipped me some stuff after I paid him. I then sent him an email for a few more items. He sent them, but they were wrong due to my mistake. I then said, as long as you are sending a box, I need these things also, and include the total. He sent them, and I asked again for a total so I could paypal it to him. I've never heard from him since. I've since had to reload my computer, and forgot to backup my email addresses, so I can't even contact him. I would still be happy to pay him some day. Sometimes I wonder if something happened to him.
