Angry Finals week is here.

Wow. Its hard to believe that the semester is just a couple days from being over. Time is flying! I just took the hardest test of my life--Economics. I didnt think it was possible for a test to be worded so tricky. Oh well, I only have British Literature and Ecology to go today.
Anyone else have opinions on finals week?

Finals were over about 5 years ago but, best of luck with yours...

That's the one and only part of college that I don't miss... Now, the ladies, parties, and social life... wow, do I ever miss that.

I went back to school this semester to get my Masters in Geology. The new depratment chair 'taught' the course - that is the total of 5 classes that we had (1 in Aug, 2 in Sept, 1 in Oct, and 1 in Dec). The good thing about the class and prof is that he doesn't believe in tests, didn't require a book, and the chicks in the class - geologists have seem to gotten a lot younger and cuter in the last 5 years...

I turned my final project, Lead Concentrations in Soil Samples from Southeast Marion County, Indiana, in on Friday, and gave my groups presentation. If any of you are interested in reading it, let me know

Looking at naturally occuring stuff eh? We're dealing with ALOT of that in Missouri on a couple of sites that I'm spearheading (I hesitate to say PM'ing).

Shoot it my way if you're bored. I'll cruise through it...

BTW, did this project originate because of a project at work? AKA: the data collection had already been done without you having to foot the bill for the 6010 scan.

Actually, no. our group focused on identifying the source (either point source or atmospheric depostion from downtown Indy) of elevated lead levels identified in the area based on some of the Profs previous work.

Yeah, but not my work. The prof basically used the class to further his own research. The samples were run at IUPUIs Geochem lab on their ICP, and as I brought up to the professor, the method they used was different from SW846-6010. His method consisted of ashing the samples to determine organic content prior to the acid digestion. According to him, it is an EPA approved method, but he couldn't recall which one off the top of his head. He also told me that they have got good results using this method because the lead content isn't affected by heating the sample. I believe the data generated could be pretty much used as a screening technique only - I took a blind dup and found the RPD to be 29%.

Probably method 246? Hrrm... I can't recall either but I've utilized it a couple of times on a few sites (one specifically in Sebree, KY).

Interesting stuff...
