PS2? X Box? other??

Wanting so input as to which game box to buy. I like playing racing games the most. Concerns are price, game availablity, add ons (like controllers, steering wheels etc) and cost of the add ons.

I know pretty much nothing about them as the last one I had was the Atari 2600

Currently leaning toward the PS2 as it seems to have the most games available.

Which would you buy and why?

Thanks
Stan

I'm not a big sports game fan.

So with that said Gamecube is one of my favorites because I find some of the games the most fun, if only it had more of a selection.

PS2, well the only reason I bought it was because it was backwards compatible and had some games I liked.

X-box - I think they have best games out there, and a great selection. They also have some great racing games. I love Gotham Street racing, the game has more to do with stylish driving (read not fast proper driving), but it's friggin hard.

I vote X-box. But go to the store and see which system has more games that interest you. Don't base it on how many games there are because it could turn out that you hate 99% of them.

I agree with captionoblivious, see which one has the games you like.

As far as prices are concerned, I think they are about even but I havent really looked much lately. I think the Xbox is down to $149 around here(that may have been refurb), PS2 is still at $199.

Xbox is the best of the current three systems. There are tons of racing games, tone of FPS, tons of sport games. They also have the best online system. The only thing they lack is RPG's.

Gamecube is second best. Zelda, Metroid, Eternal Darkness. That is really all that needs to be said.

PS2 is the worst. They have the most games but most of the games that come out are way below average in fun. The graphics aren't nearly as nice as the Gamecube or Xbox. The onyl reason to buy a PS2 are for RPG's. Otherwise you can get superior versions of the games on Xbox.

I have an Xbox and love it. I was playing my bro-in-laws PS2 a couple of weeks ago, and it was disapointed. I expcted them to be similiar, but Xbox walks all over PS2.

And Xbox has the Xbox live going for it now.

I've never played the gamecube

Gamecube second best? WTF? "Zelda, Metroid, Eternal Darkness. That is really all that needs to be said." BECAUSE that's the only games the damn thing has. It doesn't even have 1/4 of the games Xbox or PS2 has.

I would get either a Xbox or a PS2, the PS2 has a bigger variety, but like mentioned before, the Xbox is definately catching up. Most of the time, when a game is released for the PS2 withing the year, its on the Xbox.

Gamecubes aren't worth the money. Don't blow your money away on one.

Question for you game gurus:
Last time I was into playing games was when the Resident Evil games came out on PS1.
I do have a X-box and half dozen games, but never play it, I use it only to watch movies on.

Did they ever make any Resident Evil games for the Xbox?

Thanks
Habibi

I'm serious. I would buy a Gamecube over a PS2 anyday. Right now I have an Xbox and around 30 games and a Gamecube with around 10 games. There are only around 2 or 3 PS2 games that I even care to play.

Gamecube might not have the number of games released but when good games come out they are excellent.

When I buy a system I buy one that has the games I want to play. The PS2 has more games but they have a worse good game to terrible game ratio.

I agree, I only play the XBOX purely for live as it rocks and the GC, My PS2 is in its box.

BLAH. PS2 only had a wose good game to terrible game ratio, becase so many people release games for it.

GTA3 VC
GT 4(soon)
True Crimes streets of LA
Tony Hawk Underground
Matrix

Games that have been released very recently, and are awesome. Lunch is in 30 seconds, I'll post more later.

A better way to look at that would be which one has the most games available that you would actually play. The PS2 definitely has more games, but it also has more crappy games. (Check out game reviews online to see what others say about the different games that are available.) Xbox is catching up in terms of game availability as well. It has survived long enough (unlike Dreamcast and others) that most newer games that everyone wants are being released for it also. I think graphics on the Xbox are generally better, and it is nice that you don't have to shell out extra money for network connectivity like you do with the PS2.

I have an Xbox - simply because I found such a good deal on it that I had to buy it.

Oh yeah - did I mention - Halo/Halo 2???
