You are as bad as the guys down in the computer room, spending their whole day mounting tapes.

Heh, EA has got it.
If you hit something, like a pothole maybe, while attempting a burnout it might damge something. I rolled a tire off my Buick Lesabre doing that. Luckily I just put the spare on and had the tire remounted. The other "potential" thing you can do is wear the pin inside the rear gear box in two. I forget what it's called exactly. I did that to my Dad's 1980? F150 by spinning it on the ice. One tire would spin at like 100mph, not good on the inner workings of the rear end. I never fessed up for several years but it cost my folks $1500 or so to have it rebuilt.
A little fun is ok, but too much can cost you big bucks. Don't tell your dad I said that.
Ehem, always remember that it's not only you on the street and someone can get hurt! (I'm a dad now, I can say stuff like that.

Opening it up does help to clean things out, BUT there is always the potential for something bad to happen. Not so bad is damaging something on the vehicle, real bad is hurting yourself or others.
If you ever tempted to do burn outs then do them in a closed area somewhere. A place there is no other cars, buildings or people that way the worst that can happen is messing the vehicle up.
Unless your skilled at doing burnouts there is a good potential that depending how your operating the gas pedal the vehicle can virtually leap, or in other words you get to a point that the tires REALLY GRAB the pavement and it just jumps up and goes like nobody’s business. Then there’s the possibility of snapping the U-joints, breaking gears in the rear end, trashing the transmission, breaking engine mounts etc…
