Let's see what happens
I just ordered a 5.4L short block from FordPartsCheap.com, an advertising supporter of this website. The neat thing is they have been advertising this item for $95.33 with $9.53 shipping (to Arkansas) for at least the last 6 months. I only ordered one although I was tempted to order a lot more. Here is the exact wording (cut and paste) from their site:
SHORT BLOCK, F150-250, 4.6L, Windsor - 4.6L, 5.4L 97-03 $127.10 $95.33
Includes: Cylinder Block, Pistons, Rings, Rods, Rod Bearings, Crankshaft, Main Bearings, Timing Chain & Sprockets And Camshaft & Bearings.
I am waiting to see if they honor the price they have been advertising for so long. I first saw it 6 months ago and thought for sure they would catch it and correct. Ideally and morally (IMHO) they will honor the price that I ordered the short block at and then correct it for future purchasers (take the loss and learn). But, with the integrity being shown by today's business community, I'm sure that's the last thing that will happen. Any guesses?

Well, I'm just waiting to see if they honor the advertised price. The short block (if they DO honor the price) is being sent to my sister's place in Arkansas, awaiting my return to the US. If they DO send it, I'll do some research and get some serious performance parts and build a motor worthy of the dragstrip. Really, the reason I posted this thread is to get some opinions from the audience about the integrity of CheapFordParts.com. I realistically believe I'll never see the short block for that price, but stranger things have happened.
Get 'em while they're hot
Nice find:
I checked the site for a s/b for my Town Car (92) and the sale price is $1588 which is about right. For my 02 Blackwood no s/b is available but a complete motor is $2700 at their sale price which is cheap but the regular price of about $3100 is about right.
For an 01-02 4.2 litre I think it was around a grand and as you said $95.33 for a 4.6/5.4 . Maybe better order a case or two.
Bill

Oh, I'm not greedy. Besides my sister doesn't have the room to store a couple of dozen motors.
Really, it's a test of the integrity of the company. Like I said, I don't expect to get the SB for that price, considering the integrity of American business as it is today. Although, if Cheapfordparts.com came through and honored the price, wouldn't it give you a little hope?

I see what you mean about the add being a mistake, but I don't believe it has anything to do with "Integrity"
Suppose you put your house up for sale, and you're asking $169,000, but the newspaper prints $16,900
Are you supposed to now honor the mistakenly printed price?
I think what's fair here is "reasonable intent"
You know & I know that you are not going to buy a rebuilt engine for no $127.
To think so is just foolishness (for lack of a better word)
I would not expect them to "honor" that advertised price, and I wouldn't think badly of them for not doing so.
After all, let's be reasonable.

The company does NOT have to honor a bogus sales price due to a misprint. It has nothing to do with the businesses Integrity, well to a point. It is the businesses obligations to NOT sale at a price that is obviously not correct.
If it is within reason, for example the price should be $200 but it is advertised at $175 then some state laws “may” make them sale at that price due to “bate and swap”
However if that same item was listed for $2 the business does NOT have to sale at that price and there is NO law that will make them do that.
Since it is an engine block which seems to have a value of somewhere around $1000 or more, then it is obvious that the $95 is a misprint therefore the business will not have to honor any orders placed for $95.
Like Habibi stated I would not have any ill feelings towards any business to not honor an obvious mistake in an ad. To do so would prove that those running the business have poor business skills because they would be allowing themselves to go bankrupt…
Hopefully you did not use a credit card. It could be that the web site is wrong but when they process the charges the charges will be correct and that could be a big problem for you. I would check on that and cancel the order just to insure you don't run into any problems...
