Great Sears Policy !!!

My Dad just sent me this ... Makes even more sense
to buy Craftsmen now.... Tell them this is the reason
and make sure the manager of the store knows it. My
Dad was called up twice, once for WWII and served for
the entire war in the Pacific, and then again in Korean
Conflict. He had one young son (Me) and a wife trying to
live on $20 a week ...

Drop an Email to the link below and tell them how you feel to.

Cliff

PS.... I figure that most of my Lightning bud's buy stuff at Sears
all the time anyhow, and just wanted to let everyone know
about this.

QUOTE:

Assume you have all seen the reports about how Sears is treating its
reservist employees who are called up? By law, they are required to hold
their jobs open and available, but nothing more.

Usually, people takea big pay cut and lose benefits as a
result of being called up...

Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining
all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs, for all
called up reservist employees for up to two years. I submit that Sears
is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its
contribution.

Suggest we all shop at Sears, and be sure to find a manager to tell them
why we are there so the company gets the positive reinforcement it well deserves.

Pass it on.

So I decided to check it out before I sent it forward. I sent the
following email to the Sears Customer Service Department:

"I received this email and I would like to know if it is true. If it is,
the Internet may have just become one very good source of
advertisement
for your store. I know I would go out of my way to buy products from
Sears instead of another store for a like item even if it was cheaper at
the other store."

Here is their answer to my email.

.....................
Dear xxxxxxx:

Thank you for contacting Sears.

The information is factual. We appreciate your positive feedback.
Sears regards service to our country as one of greatest sacrifices
our young men and women can make. We are happy to do our
part to lessen the burden they bear at this time.

That is great! Not every employer can easily afford to do this; but, it's not easy to face death for your country either. I don't need anything from Sears; but, I think I'll go buy something today anyway.

That is excellent. It is not often you hear of big companies such as Sears doing the right thing towards their employees or their country. Many companies pay lip service to it but rarely back it up financially…

I love shopping at Sears, so that's good to know. Even though I still don't have a garage yet, I have been re-stocking my garage items from sears all summer long.

Thumbs up SEARS Rocks!

As a member of the Air Force and Ex-Air National Guard I can definitely say that an employer who stands behind it's employees who also serve our country is a rare and wonderful thing.

I am glad to hear that Sears is doing this for it's employee's that are called up.

However my close friend who was a front line marine when we went in was not treated so well by Sears. (he is not an employee of Sears)

When he went in he and his family (Wife and two young kids) did lose money so his wife called all of their creditors and asked for help while he was serving his country. The only creditor that didn't lower their interest or help in anyway was Sears. Now I don't know if Sears owns their credit company or not but if you ask me that is pretty crappy of them.

My friend and his wife had just re-done their kitchen with all new appliances from sears and had just had a kid when he was called up to be on the front line. So his wife was only asking for a little help for only the time he was in.

I am not saying not to shop at sears (I still do) all I am saying is make sure you get as much information as you can.

I wrote to the email address: webcenter@sears.com about my feelings towards their policy and told them I would buy all my tools from Sears from now on. I also forwarded them my gratitude and appreciation on their policy decisions as this is the response I received:

Dear --------,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know of your support for our actions regarding our associates who have been called into active duty. We thought our actions were simply the right thing to do, so we have been pleasantly surprised by the tremendous surge of support from you and so many other Americans.

Yes, Sears has extended its program of military pay differential to 24 months. This includes allowing Sears reservists who are full-time employees to continue participating in the company's life insurance, medical and dental programs, if they choose. The company will also hold a comparable position for these individuals for up to five years.

This is not an unusual policy change for Sears. We have extended the pay differential many times in the past, including for Operation Desert Storm and, more recently, for reservists called to serve in Croatia.

Sears has a heritage of commitment to families and home. This is a difficult time for military families, and we are proud to be able to take these actions to demonstrate support for our many co-workers who are serving our Nation.

Sincerely,
The Employees of Sears, Roebuck and Co.
Just thought I would share that response. I think it is good for as many people as possible to write to Sears and forward their gratitude and appreciation on their policy decision. I think it helps to reinforce that Sears has indeed made a wise decision…

Now that's the America I know and feel I belong to. Way to go Sears. Can't say I will give them all that much more business 'cause I already do based on other good policies that I have enjoyed over some 50 years.

Not to be a smart ***, but does anyone know Walmart's policy on this issue?
Bill

Can't speak for all WalMart's, but the one in my town seems to hire illegal immigrants, by the amount of English that they speak.

Well seeing how walmart got caught buying life insurance policys on employees (without the employees knowledge) with themselves as the beneficiary, I doubt it. To walmart a valuable employee was a dead one.
