Plain old ugly ford 2004

Maybe I have not seen them all yet, but the one's I have seen are boxie,they look like all the rest now,dodge,chevy,gmc etc.
If I had to pick one it would be the 4x4 f-150.If you look close the 2004 f-150 look's like the 2003 f-250.
This is just my opinion,they have no style or class like the previous bunch.The lariots interior is a look a like of the 1950's
design,chrome and metal.I am not saying will not buy one,but I am going to wait until next year at this time when I could afford one.A long wait for nothing.

I like the 04's but the 97-03's rock in my opinion. Best looking truck ever made.
By the way, that Ford is about a 1937 or 38, not 50's

That's definately older than a 1950s.... and one helluva nice looking truck. That's really something I'd like to do some day... restore something like that back to new.

I didn't like the '97 platform. But guess what I'm driving? The "New Edge" Mustang design grew on me too.

While I agree with your "boxie" statement. I feel the new truck will grow on you and alot of us.

The only thing that I have seen on the 04's that make them look anything like the F250's is the way the doors are made. Other than that, they don't look nothing like them, to me that is.
Besides, I guess it is me, but I prefer the more squared look on a truck than then being all rounded. And I like the 97-03 models.

And what's up with the price increase...

I can understand a increase in price because new design and all, but an equally equipped 2004 lariat 4x4 screw is $4000 more than my 2002 was.

I've thought the same thing Dale. Exact same thing...

I understand prices from suppliers go up as time progresses but, it seems to me that Ford might be capitalizing on the new body style and might also be trying to pad the bottom line after numerous quarters far from where they wanted to be...

Then again, to give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe this truck is quite a bit more expensive to produce...

Are you sure $4k, Dale? Compared to my 03 Screw Lariat, as close as I can get with equipment is only $500 more. I have a hard time believing there was $3500 increase between 02 and 03 models. Are you talking about net price after current rebates or straight MSRP or invoice?

RP,

If 02-04 = $4k and 03-04 = $500, then 02-03 must = $3500. I have a hard time believing that.

Yeah, I'd have to agree and I've never gone and priced out one head to head but, I've heard numerous folks mention that they were blown away by the difference in price and, after looking at a Lariat SCREW the other day, first hand, I must say, I did have sticker shock... I can't compare mine head to head as there isn't a KR option **YET**.

*shrugs*... I agree with you...

I love the 97-03 body style. The 04's just don't look good to me. The super duties look good and beefy, but the 04 F150 just looks like it is missing something...

Kind of like "Where's the beef?"

If was thing MSRP...

My 2002 stickered for just at 35,000, I'm thinking I had everything but the moonroof. So far, every lariat package I've seen on dealer lots in this area is 39,000+...now I have not compared window sticker to window sticker so maybe there is some added stuff on the 2004's that increase the price.

My 2002 is lariat and FX4 package, and I noticed that you can't get that in the 2004...you either get lariat or you get FX4.

And does the 2004 lariat come standard with the captains chairs cause I did not see that option when I tried to price it at carpoint?

Here is one that I looked at:

Stock number: 0004T157
Status: READY
Color: BLACK CLEARCOAT
Interior: BLACK LTHR TRIM CAPTAIN CHAIR
VIN: 1FTPW14544KA07598
Body: CREW CAB
Model Number: W14
Transmission: ELECTRONIC 4-SPD AUTO O/D
Mileage: 5

Additional Vehicle Information:
* PREFERRED EQUIPMENT PKG.508A
* PREFERRED EQUIPMENT PK
* LARIAT SERIES
* ELECTRONIC AUTO TEMP CONTROL
* DELUXE MIRROR PACKAGE
* 18" BRIGHT ALUMINUM WHEELS
* PRIVACY GLASS
* * VEHICLE NOT FOR SALE *
* 5.4L EFI V8 ENGINE
* ELECTRONIC 4-SPD AUTO O/D
* LT275/65R-18 OWL ALL-TERRAIN
* 3.73 RATIO LIMITED SLIP AXLE
* 7200# GVWR PACKAGE
* PRICED DORA REQUESTED
* FRONT LICENSE PLATE BRACKET
* SKID PLATES
* POWER MOONROOF
* POWER SLIDING REAR WINDOW
* TRAILER TOW PACKAGE
* AM/FM STEREO/6-CD IN DASH
* PICKUP BED EXTENDER
* REVERSE SENSING SYSTEM
* PWR DRIVER & PASSENGER SEAT
* HEATED FRONT SEATS
* 10 U.S. GAL GAS FACTORY
* PRICE ADJUSTMNT NOTICE APPLIES
* BLACK CLEARCOAT
* LTHR TRIMMED CPT CHAIRS
* BLACK

MSRP was $40,395

Differences that I can see are moonroof, heated seats, 3.73 ls, 18 inch wheels...but I have FX4 package which was $800.

Mine is a Lariat FX4 as well, sticker was like $38.2k. Same equipment minus FX4, plus skid plates = $38k. If I were ordered a new one, I'd get more equipment to push over $40k as well. Check out www.kbb.com to add up your own options. I am still having a hard time believing a $4k price jump for similar equipment in 2 years. Maybe as the rebates went up a lot to compensate.

Delux Heated seats are $645
Reverse sensing is $245
Moonroof is $800

And whatever else you have different.
