Just a poll to see what the consensus is...

How did you post a poll? I thought it had been disabled. Oh well, must be since you are a moderator.

Maybe I'm just too much of an old fart, but I just don't get the whole tattoo and piercing thing. I would never hire anyone with them if they were displayed on 'public skin' because my employees have to deal with customers, and a lot of the customers don't care for them either. Many of my customers are older than the pierced and tatooed generation, and like me...seriously question someone's judgement if they display 'body mods'. Sorry...that's the way I feel.

Having worked in the 'Corp. world' for 30 years, I can tell you that this 'art' is a potential roadblock for one's success. If you never have to meet customers that's one thing, but if you do...then you represent the Corp., and you therefore have an image to present. If you want to mod your body...knock your socks off, but remember...not everyone runs a company like Jessie James' chopper shop!

MrOldV8 hit it on the head. I have many tatoos, upper arms, chest and a full backpiece. However you would never know it unless I told you or showed you. All of my work can be covered with a simple polo shirt. I did this for the exact reason he states. I am in the corporate world and none of my contacts have any idea that I am inked up. I agree that someone with "sleeves" doesn't present a professional image, however the narrowminded view that many people have of tatooed people not being something or being something is just that narrow.

The thing about people who get tattoos for other reasons than following the popular rage thing is "we don't care if your not tattooed". I have had my tattoos for 19 years and have seen the explosion and commercialization of this art form. It's to bad, I see kids that are 16 with all kinds of ink and piercings all the time. My tattooist wouldn't even let someone under 18 come into his shop. Now it is just chasing the $$

I would like to get one eventaully. A piercing or tatoo or even both. But they would have to mean something to me first.

I used to have a few piercings - 4 in each ear. My old company was fine with it, but when they closed my location, I had to find a new job.......

And MROLDV8 is right, I had to take them out to find a job. Trust me, no body mods are worth employment. I can still use 2 of the holes (2 in each ear), but it's not worth it just put them in for the weekends.

I also have 2 tattoos, but those are hidden from view (on my back), and no one sees them, or knows about them unless I tell them. I also plan on getting a full back piece sometime, just need to save up for it. But it too, will be hidden from view.

I wanted to do one here a long time ago and could never figure out how to do it. I know on another site that I go to uses the same basic software as this one, and when you make a new thread it gives you the option of posting a poll. I've never seen it here though.

Ok, so how do you "opt" to do a poll? The last line don't explain it, it just states if you opted to do a poll you will now be allowed to do so...

Guess my $.02 on the subject is, I've spent a major portion of my life working in the residential and commercial construction business and as such have tried very hard to avoid putting holes in my body. So, it just seems silly to me to pay someone to do it. Maybe I'm starting to turn into an old fart too. Whatever......

you click the "new thread" button, fill out your subject & message, then click the "yes, post a poll" button.
then hit submit reply.

after that, you will go to the poll option screen. fill in the blanks...

LMAO Mike, I've got a picture of You bobbing and weaving your way past nail guns, and commercial staplers. Whew! Made it though another day, no holes!!!!

Must agree, piercings are in vogue now, but the vast majority of employers, interviewers, loan officers, etc. still subtract points for such action. Wrong as it might be to "judge a book by it's cover", it's done all the time.

There is no "yes, post a poll" button anywhere on my new thread screen. Oh well, it doesn't really matter.

As far as the piercing go, it really makes me sick on my stomach when I see someone walking around covered in piercings. Now I can see 1 or maybe 2 earrings for girls, but other than that, it just looks nasty.
