Looks like it isn't even safe to ride the elevator anymore. Ouch.

"Elevators and escalators kill about 30 and injure about 17,100 people each year in the United States, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Consumer Product Safety Commission."
A neighbor of mine was injured when the escalator he was riding suddenly went flat. They are designed to do this in an emergency. Cause of the sudden collapse was unknown.
(He has a lawyer)

If stairs are next to an escalator, I take the stairs for three reasons.
1. No one on them and they (I mean me)are actually faster.
2. Exercise
3. Thinking about what happened to my buddy, I didn't know they were designed to do that.

Bad as the long haired guy on the roller coaster

Can't verify this as I only heard it on the radio.

Seems a long haired guy got his hair caught in the mechanism of an amusement park ride which I think was a roller coaster.

In any case, the car picked him up, threw him some 30 feet in the air and he did not survive the impact. Heard it on WGST News Radio this AM and they usually don't throw this stuff out if it isn't true. Nasty way to go.
