In an effort to maintain stability, fairness and the American way, I suggest the post mentioning Group A and Group B be ammended to read Group A and Group 1 so that no Group in America must take a secondary position to any other Group in America. Furthermore I suggest that the statements of Group A and Group 1 alternate positions on the printed page.

In all fairness it was J-150 who introduced the term 'traitors' to the thread not 01 XLT Sport. He and I have just been quoting it and growling over the bone is all.

Group A says "Free Speech!"
Group B says "Free Speech!

Group A says "Bad President!"
Group B Says "Traitor to say such thing! Do not speak it!"

Group A says "What about Free Speech?"
Group B says "Exactly! We have Right to deny free speech for you and call you traitor because we, Group B have Free speech"

Group A says "Huh?"

I am moving to Mexico where the Right to Free Speech I don't have won't be taken away from me.

This is perfect fodder for 01 XLT. You couldn't have stepped in it any further. The liberal mindset is "free speech" as long as you don't disagree with what I'm saying. It is based on a skewed liberal idea of a modified moral correctness running through everything (i.e. political correctness). Therefore, if you disagree or say something they deem politically incorrect you are trouncing on their rights.

I'm actually shocked that you don't see the own flaw in your above scenario. The mere calling names or disagreeing with someone doesn't "deny" anybody's right to free speech. Your example is how it does, and exactly how it should, work. Group B should be able to call Group A every name in the book. Even if Group A is horribly offended by the words (i.e. ****, traitor, some of the very words that are being leveled against the Bush administration currently), that in no way means their rights have been diminished in any shape or form.

TREASON - This word imports a betraying, treachery, or breach of allegiance.

The Constitution of the United States, Art. III, defines treason against the United States to consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid or comfort. This offence is punished with death. By the same article of the Constitution, no person shall be convicted of treason, unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.
--b--

Before we start throwing around the "T" word everyone should know what we're talking about. What Treason means will vary depending on your view of Constitutional application. So until one of us is appointed to the Supreme Court this disagreement will continue.

Personally, I'm waiting to see if Kobe uses the "If it doesn't fit you must acquit" defense.

No,No,NO.
Call me stupid!
Say I am ugly!
Tell me my feet stink!

But if you say I am a "Traitor" because of something I uttered the implication is I have broken the law, I have stepped outside the boiunds, I have taken liberties that are not mine to take.

We are chasing our tails here.

You believe you have the right to say anything.
I believe you have the right to say anything except that I don't have the right to say Certain things.

If you truely believe that then I can't discuss this further.

Thumbs down

How about those Dixie Chicks?

I haven't listened to them since...and their album sales have taken a dive. Say what you want, but be open to criticism!

Keep it up guys, I'm learning a lot...never took American History in Canada, but now that I live here, guess it's time to learn

Unhappy

Call me a TRAITOR for leaving Canada for the US of A, but not one for changing radio stations when some big mouthed TRAITOR from Texas bad mouths George Dubbya! I don't listen to them anymore because of that--and the one with the lazy eye freaks me out.

Raoul...calm down, I think you grasped
SOMETHING a little too hard

I liked the old Raoul better!
(the old one did math better too)

I know you were using me as a sounding board, I'm used to it. Wife does it to me all the time, but do I listen?

Seriously, freedom of speech is great; problems occur when one uses it too much, or too loud.

And there's no need to move to Mexico, Raoul, the pay is lousy down there, and your feet will stink just as bad there!

Nope, you still have yet to grasp the Right Wing 1st amendment interpretation It is as follows:

LIBERALS, shut the hell up about all your self appointed rights you think you have! You liberals have NO more rights then do any other American. You do not have “special” speech rights, you do not have “special” hurt my feelings rights.

Stop trying to feel everyone else’s pain until your brain cells begin to function correctly. The first amendment, as per the “Right Wing” is as follows:

MeThe Dixie Chicks are scum bag hoes who shot off their mouths without using their brain, they suck and no one should buy their music. Yes some of their music is great, but since they are hoe bags from hell screw them.

Liberal01 you suck, you want to take away Dixie Chicks right to free speech to say what they want, to whine and cuddle the terriost of the world, your so cruel, your so extreme, I hope my cousin the tree falls on your head and you burn in hell you piece of crap. I hope the toxic chemicals that spew from your environmental death trap and global warming contributor F150 puts you into a deep sleep on your way home from the nasty rich company that screws all the little people and sends their work to China. If that don’t work then I hope you eat 3 Big Macs from that other rich nasty company who is force feeding Americans into 2 ton walking zombies needing the free medical care and free Subway sandwiches that you and your extreme friends wish to take away because you believe an individual should be accountable for their own actions, your so extreme to be so selfish to not let me and my liberal buddies label you as the one at fault for their problems. You have no compassion for your fellow fat *** who wishes to lay on the couch all day sucking up your money to buy steak and beer and then want to slam that very same poor fat *** for actually getting up off his 2 ton Big Mac induced *** of his and doing some work for once in his life, he goes to a parade to show his support for and admiration for someone he loves dealer name Saddam. Since that makes you mad you want to call him a name. I don’t get you 01, this poor fat *** has done nothing to you NOTHING!!!!! You extreme right wing nut cases should shut up you are trying to take our rights away, our rights to say what we want, and our rights to spend YOUR money as we see fit, your just mean, MEAN I say!!!!!

MeDamn, and all I said was Dixie Chicks suck, could you imagine the outpouring of love if I had said Clinton or Algore sucked?

I think everybody has the right to voice their opinion, just because someone doesn’t like the opinion they may hear is, well tough chit. Move to China and that way you can only hear certain opinions. To you liberals moving to China GOOD LUCK saying what you want…

By your own definition I have the right to my voice my opinion no matter what it is and it is this.

"You are wrong".

So, what is the problem?

Very well, we are making progress, we both have the same opinion, and are in agreement:

"You are wrong"

We really are long lost brothers...

Again we are in agreement:

"You are wronger then me!"

Let's take this to the next level, can we safely assume we are in agreement with:

"You are the wrongest?"

But I don't know who "You" is when you say, "You".

Is "you" you or is "you" me?

I just want to win when we get to the end, OK?

Right now I think you're twisting my words around and it's making my tummy hurt.

"MOMMA! Burt put sand in my hair and called me a liberal!"
