I have had chicken fried steak every time I go through Texas or went there for my company (3 times for company) so I have had chicken fried steak there between 7 – 8 times, all separate occasions.

My daughter and I went to Calif. to visit my parents for Xmas in 2001. I had intentionally planned my trip so I would hit Texas around 5 – 6:00 in the evening so I could get my chicken fried steak. Well the plans didn’t go so well I was ahead of schedule and was going to be going through Texas in the morning, about 10am. Stopped at a place and they went ahead and served me my chicken fried steak, covered the plate (that is normal) big helping of mashed potatoes etc. I will tell you what the rest of the day was HELL to drive, but worth it…
