I take my truck to KWIK KAR lube and tune. You can stand out in the bay and watch them change the oil. For 26 bucks, they lube the joints, vacuum, wash the windows, top off all the fluids, change the oil, filter, and then check the vehicle for leaks after they are done. They start the engine, and then let it sit for a bit and check the oil level and make sure the oil plug and filter are tight. Its the most professional service I have ever seen. They really are good. And if you have any doubt, you can just stand there and watch the whole process. They will even give you an oil filter wrench and let you check the tightness of the oil filter. They will also let you inspect the oil plug in the same manner. I gotta hand it to those people, they are realy good.

Several years ago my Mom had her oil changed at Wally-World. the next day I checked the oil and it had WAY too much in it. We took it back and told the guy there was too much oil in it and says, OK we'll drain some out.
I replied, "No, do it over again. I don't know if the old oil wasn't drained, or if the oil filter wasn't changed, or what the problem was." I then reminded him the car had 2 oil plugs that had to be drained.
His was response was, "uh, OK we'll do it over again."
I think he knew we weren't going to settle for less and it wasn't worth his time to argue about it.

All the quick oil change joints around here let you watch and appear to do it right. Do not let that fool you.

They also use the cheapest filters they can possibly find. They buy the cheapest bulk oil and they do mix weights some times.

They tend to over-tighten or under-tighten everything. There is very little finesse in there work.

A customer of mine went to the best Kwiky in a Jiffy cheapie lubey joint in town that had a decent reputation and she watched them like a hawk and she still missed the fact that they topped off the empty crankcase with coolant and the cooling system with cheap 10w-30!! Yes they bought her a new engine.

Wich is exactly why i see what kind of oil they are putting in, and where LOL, and check tighteness before I leave......Not that I don't trust them.......
I just can't afford to have some pimple faced teenager be responsible for my truck.

How can you tell what oil they are putting in? All the places I have been to (Not for my vehicles of course!) just pull a hose down from the ceiling and start pumping the oil in.

I knew a guy that used to deliver the bulk oil to these places and he told me that they frequently put the wrong weight oil in the wrong drum by accident.

If you check all that stuff before you leave then why dodn't you just do it yourself?!?!LOL.

Just how do you check to see if they didn't over-tighten your drain plug?
