Bought a Dodge

Never thought I would say this but I have a 02 Dodge Quad Cab in my driveway. Still have my 01 Screw, and 00 Lincoln LS, but my son decided he needed more room than the 99 Reg Cab Flareside provided...college bound in August.

So far the truck seems to be great! I drives very nice 100 times better than a Cheby. Cab room is massive and very quiet. Options are 4.7 V8, Sport package, Factory 20s, 3.92 rear, LineX bed liner, Flowmaster duals, aftermarket 6 disc CD with remote, power seats w/lumbar, vent shades and a small dual pinstripe. Bought it from original owner and got copies of all service records; first oil change was at 998 miles and at least every 3000 after that. It just rolled over to 22,000 miles and it Atlantic Blue.

Saved a lot of money buying used, new it would have listed for around 30K and bought it for 19,500. The best deal I could get on a new one was list of $29171 with rebate and discount $23451. The used truck has more options and was $4000 cheaper, plus no documentation fees.

Are you saying they are "nice looking" as in waiting for a tow?

did you say your son needed more room to go to college or to haul his wife and kids around?

Sounds like you got a great deal, but if it was me the boy would have had a Hyundai Pony beater car to screw around with at college.

Buy him the nice vehicel after grad... kinda like a carrot in front of the horse.

no bribe on this deal. I didn't buy it for him, he bought it. Now i did allow him to put down the money from the '99 on the '02. With his 11,500 down on truck (held out 1000 for taxes and tages) he has a $158 monthly note. Now I did sell a Crew Cab dually about 2 years ago and use that money to buy the '99, so i guess i did give him that one. He also has a lawn business and does very well...been doing it since he was 12, so he has his own money. He has matured rather nicely, and hasn't come to me for money in years!

He graduated with a 3.67 GPA and is on a Airforce ROTC schlorship which is basically a full ride with a tax free allowance. I couldn't have asked for a better son. He is a lot more mature than I was at his age; so i guess if he wants a new truck....he has proved he deserves it, especially if he is paying for it. My job in the deal was to get something that wouldn't tax his resources and to make sure he was ready for a truck note.

Now my neighbor is picking up a 03 Mustang GT today for his 17 year old son that is headed for college and the boy has NEVER had a job!! Not gonna happen at my house. Kids appreciate what they have a lot more when they have had to work to get it. No free rides allowed.....but I'll provide as much support as possible in an effort to make the kids be responsible adults one day.

What a cool dad you are!
I got plenty of backhanders from my dad, but not a sweet *** truck, LOL

Sounds like he's a great kid, congrats.

All I have to say.

keep us updated on the dodge, i'm tired of fords " can't find it can't fix it bs, and the look of " it's a truck, it's gonna have some noise". that an't what they said when they was selling it to me!
i'm tired of it , i'll go get screwed by someone else, maybe i'll get at least a reach around from somebody else.
