Put me down for the "idiot deportation" tax!! I like that one!! Could get expensive though!! Maybe we could send them to Guantanomo Bay, Cuba!! That place SUCKS!! I know. I had to guard refugees who were being held there because they were trying to get into our country. Every time I hear people bitch about our country I think about them willing to risk everything to get in!!

 

Something I have always questioned (at least since they came up with African-American). What if your from Egypt or northern Africa, where the people resemble Arabs? Are you still African-American or Arab. And how about South Africa. There are alot of white people from that country. Are they African-American?

 

There is no way that Andy Rooney wrote that. To me it looks like some sort of internet e-mail thing that someone from a hate group put up under his name because it sounds somewhat like him. And though it sounds reasonable in some respects, that is why it is dangerous. It is this sort of thing that deals in half truths that turns people against eachother and subverts what America is all about. That is that this coulntry has always been a haven for the poor, oppressed, and people who want to provide a good living to their families. My ancestors arrived here in the 1600's, 1700's, and 1800's from England and Ireland. All were having difficult times in their home countries. What would have happened if the indians had had the beliefs and power to excude any of our ancestors? Where would we be now? Anyway, I am a teacher in a large ethnically diverse school district. And, it is funny but most of my best students are from countries such as India, Pakistan, China, and Japan. It is some of the "American" students who have lost sight of what it is to be an American and are not taking advantage of what the taxpayers are providing. Many of these students will likely be on public assistance in future years. The foreign students will be working in high tech jobs or be doctors, lawyers, and professionals. The point is that maybe some of thes "foreigners" are small businessmen and are running "trinket" stores. But, you know what they are doing with their money? They are putting thier kids through Harvard and Yale.

 

When I was in school I saw that on a daily basis.

But, those are not the people that most here are refering too. They came here to go to school, and thats what they do, shut up and do their work. IMO, they get respect from me for making the effort to better their lives and their childrens lives.

What most people here complain about are those that come to this country and b!tch about what they don't like and expect us to change to suite their needs.

Don't know if you been to a country that speaks another language, but they don't change to english to accomodate us. They may offer translators to help out tourists or those that just moved. I doubt they give the option of 3+ different languages to pay your cellphone bill over the phone with.
