new cars for the g/f

well we have been out looking for a new car for kelli, and this is what i have come up with.:

03 camry solara--overpriced and underpowered!, not much car for the money

03accord 2-door--alot of car for not alot of money, but we dont like how high the rear end sits...blocks rear vision...but nice car

03 IS 300--AWESOME car, great power great ergonomics, cant say enough about this car

03 maxima---DAMN, thats all i can say

03 350z--so good her dad ordered one

03 bmw m5--I WANT THIS CAR, but too much car and too much money, for the car to sit at the train station everyday

in the lead is the maxima, will post pictures of the Z and the maxima(if she gets it...tired of waiting )

if anyone has any input on these cars please let me know of your opinions!

03 = DAMN?

Are you sure the equation isn't:

03 = YAWN.

04 = DAMN!!

(2002 Nissan Altima SE & 2003 Nissan Murano in the garage, in addition to the 1997 F150)

You may want to add the Infiniti G35 to that list...

Check out http://www.freshalloy.com for a great Nissan enthusiast site.

I bought my wife a Maxima and you're right: WOW! This car is a sleeper! I love killin' the IS300s and 3 series Beemers in that car

I had to get the GLE per my wifes demand, but If it were mine it would have been the SE with the 6-speed.. The GLE has kinda mushy suspension so I added a front shock tower brace and rear sway bar.

I had added a K&N FIPK on it, but it was LOUD so it went on Ebay

03 maxima....I dunno.....

I drove an 02 for a couple of days...rental.....and it had incredible power.....that thing would smoke the tires....but it turned like an 18 wheeler. Try driving it around and parking in tight spots and see if they made in changes any that for 03 before you buy it.

The G35 Coupe is VERY nice, but the sedan does nothing for me.

The 03' Maxima only has 5 hp less than the 04' and I hate to say it but the 03' is a better looking car in and out IMO.

Its interesting that Nissan can use the same 3.5 motor in so many applications and get such a wide power difference?? So, if I change the cam and exhaust on our Maxima can I make it run like a 350?

My Mother's 81 years old, bought an 02 Maxima last year. First comment out of her mouth after she picked it up and drove it home. " Oh my God I'm gonna get a ticket, that damn car flies!" She's had Buicks, Oldmobiles, Maximas and Hondas in the past 10 years, but she says the newest Maxima is the nicest car she's ever had. I had a 91 that I put 120,000 miles on and the kid that bought it from me two years ago is still driving it.
BUT, if you don't need the passenger space, spring for the ZZZZZZZZZZ!

fla...her 96 camry v6 has 104,000 miles and the only prob. is it is starting to leak power steering fluid, those were hard miles...being in the city(she went to Dexel University)

her dads 96 toy. avalon has 164,000 miles on it and it runs better than it did when it was new(i LOVE that car )

my moms 98 D has 64000 on it and has been alot of problems

her moms lincoln blew up her chrysler before that was nothing but problems

my 99 has had some electrical problems

and there are our freinds who drive ameriucan and have problems ....so why SHOULD she buy american?

no flame you ask and yopu shall receive!and on a side note arent most of the cars mentioned made in AMERICA?

it doesnt matter what the brand name is as long as an american worker can feed his family

just my .02

and thanks for those with opinions

I really hate to say this, but The big three just cannot compete with the Japs. in the car segment. A Maxima, or really any of these cars mentioned, will go 100,000 without anything but some brake pads, tires and oil changes.
I bought a 1987 Acura Integra once with 125,000 on the odo. when I bought it, I took it up to 180ish with ZERO problems before I sold it ... For $200 MORE than I paid!!
Sorry, but I wouldnt even cosider an American sedan with 125K on it.

I had a 2001 Maxima SE 5speed for about a year, it got totaled in a flood from a tropical storm. It was a great car, I loved it! So much fun to drive especially with the 5 speed and that Bose stereo, fully loaded (except automatic tranny) for $26k great value. I do miss that car a lot, I thought about replacing it with another Maxima with the insurance money, but I was ready for the Lightning which I do not regret getting for a second, I miss shifting and four doors, but not enough to give up the L.
I would recomend a Maxima. My only problem was air leaks on the small windows on the back doors, just sounded awful at 55mph+, but the dealer fixed it right the first time. The new ones are a little funky on styling, I do not like the huge Nissan logo on that big chrome slab the grill or the optional "Coin Slot" sunroof. I looked at them on the lot and the door handles felt cheap to me on the 04. But it has a lot of power (more than my 2001 SE). I would consider the G35 Coupe or Sedan, or the Infinity M45

Some pics of the 04:

Good luck with what ever you get!
