Dixie Chicks pro PETA

Not much of a surprise, but the dixie broads had posed nude for an anti fur ad for PETA prior to their stupid remarks. With the backlash they recieved over their outburst on our President, their manager was afraid of their nudie anti fur shot, so they paid PETA $10,000 to pull the ad and deny it ever happened.

There are a lot of people who wish they could undo some of the things they have said or done. Just like our president who would probably like to redo some of his youth, if he could remember where he was or what he was doing.

I am no fan of todays "pop rock country", but artists should be judged by their talants and not their political stand. And the media should not give so much play to actors or musicians regarding their stand on issues. Left or right, if they have a good voice I'll listen to their songs and if they can tell a good joke I'll laugh along. But thay are, after all, only entertainers.

That is a great statement however it is not how life operates. They the dic*ed chicks make money for performing. They are selling a perception, an image. Since that is the career they have chose then they should learn how to keep their MOUTHS shut. Once they open their mouths they ADD to their image, perception.

Some people may like it and some may not. It is the fans and the public that afford the dic*ed chicks to make the money they do. When people STOP likeing them because of something they did or said it is THEIR fault and NO one elses.

That is how life "really" operates.

True...they're artists...they perform and we judge them on their singing...But once they open their mouths and say something contraversial, then we can judge them on what they said. Because of their high profile they invite the judgements.

So if I follow your reasoning and apply it to everyday life, then the subcontractors that I hire on my jobsites should only be hired and judged based upon the quality of their work. And if they exhibit terrible attitudes and cause utter turnmoil with all the other subs on a job, I shouldn't hold it against them because they did their job well. I don't think so. These women are just another shining example of one of the things that's wrong with society today, an utter lack of personal responsibility for one's actions and comments. That, and an serious lack of common sense. End of story........

Excellent point BigDeal!

Today people, be it actors or singers want to say what ever they want to say and when it pisses off a bunch of people they want to blame the people.

They want to say crap like "This isn't FAIR, it's my first amendment right" and other STUPID crap that makes NO sence.

Yes, they have a first amendment right, but there is NO, repeat NO amendment right for people to like them or for them to continue to make MONEY because they just pissed off ALOT of people who do NOT want to give them money anymore.

The dic*ed chicks got what they deserve. Perhaps there is a lesson to be learned for other singers and actors.

"If you want to continue making the BIG bucks then SHUT UP!!!!!!"

It's never the end of the story simply because you finished with your view point. I disagree with your analogy Big Deal because it does not apply. These girls are singers and yes you can decide not to buy their albums if you so choose. I don'y buy them because it's not my preference in music. But these girls simply expressed an opinion, they did not go to Iraq and sit on an anti aircraft gun. There was no sedition in their statements.

Your Subcontractors are in direct contact with each other and they have to work and coordinate with each other. However, if I follow your logic, I can fire anyone I like simply because I do not like their politics. Or do you think that the only people allowed to express their opinions in public are those who write the paychecks. See, that was tried before, it was called fuedalism.

I work with many contractors, engineers, tradesmen and laborers. I like the idea that when I get on an elevator or cross a very high bridge that the people who built these things were very good at what they did. I don't care if they were rabid liberals or rabid right wingers. Political correctness is stupid, no matter which side of the isle it comes from.

Nick D.

I understand your point. I do believe that everyone should have the right to say or have an opinion on any subject they wish. As a matter of fact we do, as you know, the first amendment gives everyone one of us that right, including the dic*ed chicks.

What I find hard to understand or comprehend is that on one hand your saying people such as the dic*ed chicks should have a right to say what they want, yet seem to get upset with those of us, or whoever, public, radio stations what ever that disagree or have the opposite opinion of them. We ALL have a first amendment right not just the bimbo’s that can sing.

They can sing and they sing well. They choose to view their opinion in public and now must take what ever comes their way be it positive or negative. There is NOTHING in the constitution that grants them they right to say what they want yet silences those who disagree with them, that would be a dictatorship of which America is not.

The dic*ed chicks are making money for their singing abilities not their political leanings. Since they have now brought to light which way they lean they may or may not make as much money as before. It is a “complete” package if you will. Before the package was just entertainment, now it includes their political view. Some may like the package while others may not. If they lose money they have no one to blame but themselves.

BigDeal made a very good point about sub contractors. They may be the best in the business but the business is a “complete” package. It includes not only their abilities at what ever trade skill they practice but how well they can perform their trade with other tradesmen. If they can not perform well with others, or get in others way the most likely they will NOT be practicing their trade long. That is life and that is how it works. No one can change it.

You are taking BigDeal’s example out of context. It would be like saying the dic*ed chicks sing well, as well as say Steve Perry, however Steve with the dic*ed chicks may not perform well together and therefore would not be able to sale CD’s or bring the crowds in.

The consumer likes and buys the package entertainer sales, when they start including extras like their political views it is at their own risk. As I said if you’re in entertainment and you want to make the big bucks your best bet is to keep your MOUTH SHUT.

The facts can suck and be ugly at times but they remain the facts…

That really is the end of the story regardless of any other opinions. The end of the story is this:

The consumer will either continue to buy the dic*ed chicks CD’s or they won’t based on what the dic*ed chicks said by opening their mouths, that is the end of the story…
