windshield leak

Okay, I did a search and couldn't find anything.

My windshield leaks a small amount after very windy heavy rains and sometimes when I wash the truck. It runs from the top driver's side and trickles down the inside of the window about 7 or 8 inches. It never drips on the dash, it's just a small amount. Anyone else have this problem? I only have 13k on the truck, so it's going to be a dealer problem soon. Just wanted a heads up for any potential service problems when I get there.

thanks,
john

It should be under warranty with only 13k miles. Take it to the dealer. No sense in trying to fix it yourself, when you can get someone else to do it for free.

Absolutely. No question about it. It's a warranty issue.

It's always a pain in the butt dealing with the stealership but, in this case, I don't think it's something that you can fix quick and easy.

I know you guys are right, but I have visions of a big gooey sticky mess rolling down my windshield everytime the temperature gets over 90 degrees.

I seriously doubt it.

The majority of the dealerships that I've dealt with in the past outsource that type of work to a 'glass shop' rather than doing it in house.

Yeah, dealerships don't screw with the glass in house, not with the mobile auto glass trucks in every town

Like the other people have said don't worry about the dealer. I had a 97 that had a crack from the bottom and went up towards the top. Took it in and they "had" it replaced. Someone from a local glass shop did the work and I stood there and watched. He did an excellent job and not like the time when I was in high school and took a car I had to the shop where the guys lays a nice big thick blanket on the hood of my car, gets inside and kicks the window out.

Hey, I was in high school and did not have the big bucks for the good shops. Kind of blew my mind at the time....

Anyhow, just in case someone forgets to tell you. Once they replace the window leave a CRACK in the drives or passenager window when closing your doors for a few days until the glue is cured. If you don't it will not seal properly because when you close the door with all the windows up it puts pressure on the windshield.

Oh, if you do take it to the dealer and they have someone from a glass shop come do it and he lays a big thick blanket on the hood LEAVE QUICKLY...

Unless its a good looking women, then just say "Who's your daddy"...

Yep! Somehow I just knew I'd feel much better after reading everything you guys said. RP and Gator set me up and 01 comes along with the zingers.

Let me review:

Guy from the glass shop comes and lays a big blanket on the hood or windshield, cover my eyes and leave the shop. Woman from the glass shop comes and lays a big blanket on the hood or windshield, I should suggest we move it to the back and flip out the bed extender so neither of us falls out. Okay, I think I've got it!
