I`m on a modified Atkin`s diet. Have been for 2 months now. I`ve lost 31 lbs. so far & 1 waist size in pants. Keep it up!!!!
By modified , I go low carb`s & low protein in my diet. No more than 9 servings of carbs a day, plus I drink 80 to 100 oz.`s of water a day too. i cut out reg. pop & went to diet , but only 1 12oz. can a day . I use skim milk . No SUGAR!!!!! Light Wheat bread. No pasta`s !!!! It takes time to see a change. Me, it took about 3 weeks. But the first 2 weeks is the hardest. You want everything you can`t have anymore!!!
Keep it UP!!!!!!

CrashZ,
My best friend has been on the Atkin's Diet for almost 2 years now. He sticks to it pretty close, the only exception is BEER. He might eat two steaks at dinner, and a few asparagus or brussel sprouts, but he will have his beer. (one or two every evening, and several more on the weekends. ) He orders a double or triple for lunch at Wendy's, then throws everything away and eat the meat. Eggs and bacon for breakfast. He's gone from 245 to 206 in the first 7 months, and has been holding steady every since. He's also 6'6". He agrees with Lariat1, the first two or three weeks are the hardest. Hang in there.

I've lost about 40 lbs on the Atkin's Diet over the past six months. I like it alot. I can find something I enjoy eating from anywhere: partys, Mc Donalds, pizza (topping only)...You can have some beer on the diet once you get past induction. Miller Lite is about 2.5 g of carbs. I've drank 3-4 in a nite and stayed in ketosis. Two low carb sites I like are www.lowcarbluxury.com and www.lowcarber.org

Atkin's food products are pretty good. Their pancake mix is very good but the syrup leaves a little to be desired. The blueberry muffins taste great with a pat of butter on them. There bread is very good if browned or toasted, but it has a wierd texture if you eat it fresh. The cravings will go away if you follow the diet properly. You can find good substitutes or make low carb adaptations of high carb dishes once you get the hang of the diet.

It has been over a year since I have done this, but it worked very well for me.

I once weighed about 295 lbs and wore VERY SNUG 42" waistline pants. I finally decided it was time to do something about it. I went on a strict modified version of Atkins Diet. I modified it, because I got tired of all the fibre supplements, if you know what I mean. Eating protein 24/7 doesn't much good for the colon So all I ate was lean meats, lots of veggies, and lots of fruit. I don't believe it is good for the body to skip out on the veggies and fruit. You just need things that meat cannot provide, like Vitamin C for instance. It is surprising how much fruit can curb the craving for sweets. I also exercised regularly, 3-4 days a week, lifting weights mostly. Well I am happy to say, I lost about 45 pounds in about 4 months, and I have still managed to keep it off. I still need to lose about 30 lbs, but I am just WAY too busy to work on it.

Bottom line is, it is a lot of work to stay lean, but it makes you feel so much better when you reach that goal, and can climb a flight of stairs without fearing a heart attack. Works wonders for the sex life too

Good luck and keep us posted!

I lost 48 pounds on Atkins in 7 months. And its 7 months later And I've added only 5 pounds back and I eat regulalry now. But every once and a while I'll go back on it for a week to drop back down real quick. I dropped from a 40" waist to a 33/34. My old boss lost 70 pounds on it and was the reason I tried it.

It really really works!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow - congrats to those who have lost the weight! Way to go!

And thanks for the inspiring stories. I 'm definately feeling better about it now. My goal for this is to be beach worthy in a month or so, which means I've started to add quite a bit of cardio into my work-out and toned down lifting the really heavy weight. I'm the guy in the gym who can lift a lot, but has a beer gut, and no matter how hard I lift, the gut hasn't gone away. Even adding cardio in 3 times a week hasn't wittle the old waistline.

I really like the "modified" Atkins that you guys are talking about. I too believe you need the fruit and vegetables in you diet, other wise you'll starve you body of some crucial nutrients. Once I get through the induction stage I will use your modified Atkins.

Thanks again for the support!

just remember it is like any other diet in this respect, the first month or 2 is,to me, easy. the weight drops fast and the idea of eating bacon for breakfast and steak for dinner sounds pretty good. after 2 months you enter the grid, and then ,to me, you start craving carbs. i did it twice and lost 20 lbs each time, as soon as i got off it the weight came back FAST.
I am now on a regular diet and have been for the last year , lost 55 by not eating the obvious and i eat six time a day 300 to 400 calories a meal. i also started working out and feel pretty good.
working out wont take of the weight like dieting but the 2 go good together.

Start the atkins but if you find your self drifting switch to a regular diet, dont just let it go because it comes back fast. the atkins is a great way to take off 20 lbs.

Atkins!

Yes, I have been on the Atkins since just before Thanksgiving. I've lost about 40 lbs. I've gone from size 46 to 40 waist pants and my feet and knees feel lots better. I walk 2 miles everyother day and have cut out "starches". I do eat a "Chocolate Bar" called "Carb Solutions" once a day (gets me past the sweet craving). It has " 0 " carbs from sugar, so it doesn't kill the diet. I eat a few "carbs" now, but for the most part stick to Atkins. Good luck to those who try it.

I went to "Weight Loss Clinic" once, and I lost a whopping 400 dollars.
