Road surface help!
I am going to have my private road re graveled (~900 ft. long) and was wonderting if any body out there can suggest the best kind of stone/gravel to use That will last the longest. The road has a sharp grade (not sure what it is) but it snakes uphill to my house. Any ideas??.
Concrete or asphalt its cheaper. We get good crusher run here and it works pretty good. Back home in TX we always had oyster shell in our drive growing up, but im sure thats not the best on tires i know it was bad on the feet.
How much precipitation do you get per year? Does it come primarily in the form of rain or snow?
Run off should be a concern. Lighter rock is going to have the tendency to errode faster than that of a little heavier stone.
