Why limit ourselfs to just 21 yr olds, I say let them puppies breath
bikenut..... I agree. I was exempt from any scholarship too. I believe I had gotten rejected from UGA because I'm white. My SAT score was good enough, I took part in leadership roles in high school, and I had a decent GPA. The problem with UGA is their minority acceptance policies. Does it make sense that someone of a different race who may have lower scores than I do get accepted rather than me? NO! When will people stop looking at race and gender to make decisions and start doing it based on qualifications and merit? Ah well, I am MUCH HAPPIER here at good ol Auburn University! WAR EAGLE!
I like the idea of topless women's golf though! Heh heh! But we can't use the women on the LPGA! yuk!

bikenut:
You raised a very important topic that needs to be changed. I go to tech school. It is sad to see when people who want to go to school are turned down. So someone not as qualified can go just to make a quota. College is a messed up place in some ways. Georgia has both hope and Pell Grants. I get hope. If you make under x amount then you get Pell Grant. About eight weeks into the semester Pell people recieve a check for x amount of money for going to school. It is a pretty good bit of money. Now once they get there checks alot of them leave. Some of them try and stay, but alot leave. One of the first teachers actually told us to watch and see how the parking lot empties toward the end of the semester. Sure enough toward the week 8 you didn't have any problems finding a parking place. The system we have right now needs changing. People can manipulate it and make money off it.

In my opinion there is absolutely NO reason for quotas. I have no problems with grants or special programs as long as it is based on the persons ability to actually get good grades in college.
If it is based on “anything” other then someone having the actual ability to succeed in any higher education (i.e. race, being a foreigner, religion, etc) then I have no problem.
I do have a problem with someone allowed to go to higher education for free or reduced cost based on race or what ever.
If you are not bright enough to make it then move on, there are plenty of ditches to dig in America. Please no one give me this “well not everyone has an equal opportunity to go to a good grade school or high school” because that is pure BS. Everyone I repeat EVERYONE has the opportunity to go to a good grade school and high school. Some just choose to be ignorant about changing their particular education system where they live. Either they just sit on their @ss crying about it, or they are to stupid to see that the liberals in this society WANT them to remain stupid.
The facts suck, but they remain the facts…
