Help me out Please-Tech question
Ok, bit of a long story but here goes......
The F150 arrives on the 5th April and should clear customs and be delivered to me by Fri 11th.
Obviously. I want to play with my new toy asap but I cannot drive it legally in England until it has passed it's SVA test.
The SVA test is to make sure that any vehicle imported into the UK complies with our road rules and regulations.
Anyway, you have to submit a form with the vehicle details and make an appointment for the test.
I want to work on the truck over the weekend (so it passes) and make the appointment for the Monday 14th.
Now, here's the problem. On the form, you have to state the following,
1. Weight over the back axle
2. Weight over the front axle
3. Gross vehicle weight
4. Unladen weight.
Apparently, there is a plate inside the doorjamb with all this info.
So, big favour time guys, Please can anyone with a 98- Extended cab-4.6-short bed-2wd, tell me what is says on the plate.
They won't let me book the appointement for the test without the info.
Of course, there's a beer in it for helping

These are for a 1999 but, should be close.
1. Axle Front, 3400-lb Cap.
2. Axle Rear, 3800-lb Cap.
3.GVWR, 6050-lb
4.You didn't specify all that was necessary for this number so calculate as follows:
(GVWR minus Payload = Unladen weight)
Payload
1755-lb =Styleside w/139" Wheelbase
1575-lb =Styleside w/157" Wheelbase
1730-lb =Flareside
Thanks Raoul, these figures will be good enough.
The reason that "they" need them is to figure what class to put the vehicle in for registration.
It actually makes little difference apart from the annual road tax we have to pay.
The F150 will just squeak into the lowest band (cars)
What they are figuring is, If you have a very high carrying or towing capacity, you will probably use it for commercial purposes.
The "man" sees no need for anyone to be drving a fullsize truck in the UK. Biggest on sale is the Ranger or Jap stuff.

Raoul, it's a styleside and no, I don't have to convert to stones. (1 st = 14lb for everyone else)
Taxes I have to pay getting the truck into the UK - I will convert to $ and euro's for you.
22% Import duty on truck price+shipping charges
17.5% VAT on all the above (Tax on a tax - outrageous)
$240 - SVA inspection
$48 - MOT Test (annual safety test)
$128 - registration of title
Annual road tax = $240
Current gas price = $1.17 per litre ( $5.25 per US gallon)

I was wondering if you are going to convert your truck to a LPG system, that,s alot cheaper here in Holland.
No, I won't be converting to LPG.
It costs about half the price of gas here but produces less power and smells funny.
My Fury only gets about 8mpg so if I see double figures, I will be happy.
