EVO specs for those wondering ...

http://www.supercarsite.net/lancer_evolution_viii.htm

Looks like the EVO is quicker than a stock L 0-60 because of the 5-speed, AWD, and weight, but the L may have the edge in the 1/4 - stock v. stock.

Good stuff, but from having a lot of friends with WRX's they wont launch their cars like they need to be launched to get those times. They are always worried about breaking things. I know the EVO and the WRX are different cars but as far as I can tel its most AWD guys are always worried about breaking something.

I was under the impression that a Ricer was a car that was all flair and no go, such as fart can, big wings, stickers, etc. I'm a performance car enthusiast and still don't understand why some people have to be racist towards other peoples ideas of a performance car. Some of these cars can not only keep up with an L, but also beat them. Let's show the rest of the performance world some class by not making blanket derogatory statements.

Hey, It's Japenese, It's a Ricer.

I own a Lexus you can call it a Ricer. It's not about how fast you get there, It's about what you get there in..

I've read and seen the EVO, to each his own..Not me, Wing is to Big...Ricer..

Don't take this ***** to seriously...

I don't. It's just that the word Ricer gets thrown around a lot and it seems everybody has a different interpretation of what it means. To you, it's a Japanesse car, to others it's a derogatory statement to others vehicles. I'd just like to see the Ford crowd be the ones with class above the others. We got the power to prove our ability.

That's all I meant by my statement.

DL,

In my other post I mentioned that the main reasons for trading the L were for improved gas mileage (I drive at least 50 miles per day), and because the mileage on my L was up to 41K. Obviously, these trucks depreciate rapidly after the manuf. warranty period expires (36k, along w/ most other performance vehicles). As yourself this ... would you pay good money for a performance vehicle with high mileage?

If you can give the name of an American car that has the same build & performance as the EVO, at the same price point, then perhaps I could second guess my purchase. I've always been one for supporting our economy but sometimes one has to go with what wins in terms of bang for buck, and overall preference, etc. whether its made by Ford or any friggin ricer company for that matter. Take a look at the new 2004 Subaru WRX Sti .... now that front end definitely has a Japense look. The EVO ... well, it has a wing ... and that's about it. STi is still sweet though ...

With the dealer markup around here($8000) I could get a 03 Cobra for cheaper. They are a lot faster too. A Lightning is cheaper and probably just as fast. A Mach 1 Mustang is a lot cheaper and just as fast. Switching over to GM now, I am sure a few Trans Ams are still floating around somewhere. Or a Camaro SS.

The EVO is not a bad looking car but the price is a little high to me. If I was gonna go that route(small car) I would probably save thousands and get a SRT-4. Either way, goodluck with your new car. As long as you are happy that is all that matters. -Mat-

Agreed. $8000 mark-up on the evo is too much @ 39 grand. I paid 33K. I considered the Cobra but gas mileage, interior space, insurance, and the extra 4-5 grand savings made me choose the evo ... and this is also my 1st turbo car. With some mods, I hope to give the highly regarded 03' Cobra I run for its $ !!!
