Loosing license, any help?

Any way to keep my license for 4 points in 3 months? Are there any exceptions like having to drive for work? Anybody been here? I'm in CA. How long do you loose it, do you have to hand it in, what restrictions are there etc. This sucks. Why did I get 2 points against me when pleading no contest for an accident I was invoved in? I thought that meant I wasn't guilty of anything.

Youre focked...

Get an attorney. You may be allowed to drive to and from work.

Sheesh...they yank it for 4 points in 3 months? I got four points for one ticket when I had my Cobra...123 in a 65. I just got called in to talk to some rep. at the Sec. Of State. At one point I had 11 points all together...EVEN THEN I just got a form of probation for only 6 months. I couldn't get any ticket OTHER than a seat belt ticket. They are harsh on you Cali guys.

Pleading " no contest" means you don't contest the accusation.
In other words you admit you did what they said. Guilty.

Your right about it being harsh here, In California, anything over 100 mph is an arrestable offense. Your vehicle will be impounded, and you'll pay through the nose to get it back.

I'm afraid someone gave poor advise when they told you pleading "no contest" was not admitting guilt.

You may be able to ask the court for a driving restriction to cover going to work, but that's at the judge's discretion. Good luck.

I got a ticket in my Mustang GT for 90 in a 70 on I-10 out in the middle of no where toward Blythe CA. The cop asked me how fast I was going and I said "I dont know" because there was a woman in a mini van tailgate/drafting me at 85 and I sped up to get away from her. I didn't argue the ticket because I was going faster than 90, heh. I took an online driving class and the points didn't go on my license. AZ and CA have reciprocal driving record sharing. Oh yeah - the woman in the mini van got pulled over too, heh.

actually i believe in certain accident situations its advisable to plead no contest. "No contest is not an admission of guilt" i think was the phrase used. It is in the logical sense, but not in the legal sense.

Pleading guilty is an admission of guilt. Pleading no contest just means you arent going to contest it, it doesn't mean you are admitting you are guilty.

I would see if you can take some kind of driving course and get some points dropped.

No contest means you aren't contesting the charges - basically, you aren't admitting it, but you're not denying it either.

When I needed to drop points, I used http://www.webtrafficschoolofva.com
Use a search engine to see if CA has a similar program online. It took me about three hours to complete (from home), and I had to go to their office to take the final test on their computer so they would know it was me, but I didn't have to spend a whole day in the classroom, and it was only 40 bucks. Try to be safer in the future!
Here are some, try these! Both drop points, check them out and go for it!

This was back in 1999. I was in my red 98 Mustang GT Convertible. Going triple digits no doubt, pulling away from the mini-van mom. I walked away from her like she was standing still. I bet she was shocked when she saw me take off and here she was pedaling as fast as she could to begin with. But she was riding my butt within a couple car lengths at 85-90 MPH.

I dont do that anymore and when I saw the CHP as a speck way back in my mirror I just pulled over and waited for him and told him my story. I think that helped me from getting in trouble more than I did. Finally when she came poking a long he pointed to her to pull over and she got a ticket too, heh.
