Well it sure was nice to be able to haul 300 lbs of gravel in the back of my "brick" today But lets just say it went in (backhoe) a lot easier than it came out (5 gallon buckets)

But it was such a nice day today (51 and sunny) that when I got back home, I decided to wash the truck with dawn, then did the clay bar followed by two coats of Z-2 with ZFX.

Of course with "very little" work you can get a Z06 to run in the 10's and still drive it to the office.
I have personally seen two Z06's that ran in the 10's. 10.78 and 10.62 to be exact. I don't know your defination of "very little" work means, but if you calling having a built 383 stroker, "very little" so be it. And I never said that a brick that would make a Corvette owner cross-eyed was stock. The point is with nothing more than an air-filter kit, chip and pulley, a pick-up truck (Lightning) will surprise quite a few Corvette owners. So when you had to make your comment
if you matched up one of those silly SVT's
I just wanted to let you know those SILLY SVT's can and will rock your Vette. I can only hope Iam there when you get introduced to a non stock flying brick.

O and one more thing, at the local Auto-Xing, it seems that the Corvettes (Non Z06) have got nothing for the silly SVT's. As a matter of fact, those silly SVT's are closing in on the Porsche's.

But none of this has anything to do with the original post. The point of the post was how interesting it was to see so many vette owners choosing Ford trucks as their daily drivers. Gator it's the best of both worlds. Lighten up. I drive a Ford truck, it's a great product.
I would have lighten up, if you would have kept your silly SVT's comment to your self. But since you had to make your comment and just wanted to let you know that some of us have the best of both worlds, in one vehicle, for a hell of a lot money.

Nice talking to you
Sincerely, Fast Gator

I am a convert from driving POS cars to financing new Fords. My dad did have some influance.

The Corvette is one of todays ultimate sports cars. People who buy them know that they are built to perform. It's not all that surprizing that many would also drive Ford trucks. They know that they too are built to perform. Perhaps different tasks, but perform still.

Remo, do you get to NED with that Z06? I don't have a "silly" (I inturprate that as being a good thing) SVT and have no chance of hanging with any newer 'Vette but it's fun to see everyone run. I know that there are a couple Lightning guys who run up there that are beating the Z06s. There is a ton of respect for the Corvette, especially the Z06 but you've got to give the Lightning guys who are beating the Z06s a bit of respect too. There aren't too many vehicles out there that can say they are capable of running ahead of a Z06, especially pick-up trucks.

Remo, you've got it good. You've got the Z06, a crazy fast street car and an F150, the best looking truck on the market today.

As long as were talking about ford products that can beat the zo6 the new mustang cobra damn near beats it stock. It would have done it stock if ford wouldnt have decreased the power. Let me explain........ when they first put the super charger on the new cobra they used the same one as the lightning, only problem is the blower on the lightning pulls air in from the top and to put that on the mustang ford would have had to put a hood with a hoodscoope that would have been so big it would have been retarded. So what for did was redesign the blower ont the mustang to draw air in from the back which made it alot more efficiant. Along with that it gave it more power and more boost so what ford did was put a larger diameter pully on the blower to slow the car down and get the hp below 400.(which didnt work cause right off the showroom floor the car has 418 at the rear wheels). so if you change the pully on the blower and install one from a 2002 or newer lightning the boost goes up to over 14 pounds. you cant tell how much cause the gauge stops at 14. So with one little mod the car runs in the low 11's and that beats the zo6. once again ford kicks chevys ***.

Now lets talk about the camaro ..... oh ya the mustang knocked that car of the planet. i could go into alll the reasons gm killed the camaro but im tired of typing.

Gentlemen In Order

Fast Gator - I now see the error of my ways relative to the "silly SVT" comment. Understand that I live in a snow belt and as a daily driver that partuclar vehicle would not work well. And the last thing I need is two toys parked in the garage for the winter. Again my opologies for the unfair characterization.

Witton - yes I do run at NED, Epping. I have really enjoyed my vette because it does run in the 12's, on street tires, without a lick of work. Over the years I run several cars there mostly Ford products. Segway to Punckrockford below.

Punkrockford - I really have no particular alledgence to either brand. They both have some great models. Most of the fast cars I've owned have been Fords. My 89 Saleen was a joy to drive and consistanly turned the low 12's. And most recently I owned a 96 Cobra. Not as fast as the Saleen but it would still blister any Camero.

So that's the deal boy's. Thumbs up to Ford trucks. Reasonably priced, well built with a good return on investment.

Regards - Remo

Fast Gator,

Stop teasing me with Z06 pictures. The winter up here started the first week of November (16" snow storm). From there things just got worse - on average 12 - 20 every week. The temperatures have remained between 20 and -6. No melting - just keeps piling up. That's why the F-150 has been pulling overtime duty. Meanwhile the vette sits in the garage waiting to come out and play.

Loved that snow picture - looks very familiar.

Regards - Remo
