Middle Eastern Oil

I recently got an email about boycotting middle eastern oil. I'll post it below incase you haven't seen it. Please mail it to people.

Also, some time ago I read someone say that the commercials that say, "Driving an SUV supports terrorism" is pure B.S. I had to reply that it was actually true. They came back saying we only get 18% of our oil from the Middle East. Well, the email I got finally motivated me to actually look it up and I found We get 60% of our oil from the middle east!!!!

Ok, here is the email that was sent to me. Please send it out to people and actually follow it!

Subject: Let's kick butt

I'm all for it!!

GASOLINE SOLUTION!

We CAN buy gasoline that's not from Middle East. Why didn't George W.
think of this? Gas rationing in the 80's worked even though we grumbled
about it.
It might even be good for us! The Saudis are boycotting American goods.
We should return the favor. An interesting thought is to boycott their
GAS. Every time you fill up the car, you can avoid putting more money
into the coffers of
Saudi Arabia. Just buy from gas companies that don't import their oil
from the Saudis. Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that
every time I fill-up the tank, I am sending my money to people who are
trying to kill me, my family, and
my friends. I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil
companies are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import
Middle Eastern oil:

Shell............................205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco.............144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil.................130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway......117,740,000 barrels
Amoco...........................62,231,000 barrels

If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18
BILLION!
Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

Citgo....................0 barrels
Sunoco............. ..0 barrels
Conoco............. ..0 barrels
Sinclair............... 0 barrels
BP/Phillips.......... 0 barrels
Hess...................0 barrels

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and
each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are
importing. They report on a monthly basis. Keep this list in your car;
share it with friends. Stop paying for terrorism.............

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of gas
buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't wimp out at this
point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions
of people!!

I'm sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send it
to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at
least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message
reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE
MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on
to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!
If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION
PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. How much would all
that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within
one day 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the
next eight days!

The only problem with that is all the companies that DONT import have crappy gas and I get bad mileage. I only buy from Texaco now because their gas is of better quality then the others.

I think that 60% figure is very high figure and I had read somewhere a few months ago it was more like 20% - 30% but I don't know for sure. Once the environmental wackos let us drill here in America we won't have the problem of depending on foreign oil as much as we do now.

As far as supporting terriost. I don't buy that for a minute, at least not that ONLY SUV drivers support them. That is the stupidest commercial I have ever seen. It should have been ANYBODY that uses oil (gas, heating etc) supports terriosm. That means every single person in America supports them.

NO, SUV drivers do not support more because of worse mileage. You have to look at what everyone uses for heating their house, how much food people eat, how many products people buy.

What I mean by that is anybody that buys food (we all do) is also paying for oil. It takes trucks to get the food to the store right? You bet it does same as every time you buy something from Wal-Mart or any other store. Takes trucks to get it to the stores.

Oil affects many things in our lives that you can not single out what someone drives or where they buy their gas (oil). If you use oil to heat your home where does that come from? If you use propane to heat your house then what does the truck that brings it to your home use for oil and gas to get there? Don’t some detailing products contain some oils in them? If so where did it come from?

These environmental wackos try to make it sound simple by lets boycott certain gas stations to protest are outrage at foreign countries where we get our oil from. I say lets do something to boycott the environmental wackos for MAKING and FORCING us to buy oil from foreign countries in the first place. If it wasn't for the tree hugging nut cases roaming around loose we wouldn’t have to depend so much on foreign oil. Since we have to I am only buying the best quality gas I can and I don’t care where it comes from or how much I use in my truck since my truck uses a small amount of oil when compared to the BIG picture of oil usage in America as a whole.

I'm with you 01 XLT Sport. The figures I've heard about our importing of "Arab oil" is way less than 60%. I say lets start drilling in Alaska, off the coast of California and any where else in this country where there's reserves. That percentage will be even lower then! If the tree-huggers don't like it, let em protest to their heart's content. I'll share with them my recipes for spotted owl soup and deep fried snail darters.

MROLDV8,

I think I would be interested in those recipes. I have a slightly different take on the eco-freekos. They are just forcing us to drill for our own oil last. When we reach the point that we really need that oil we will get it no matter what they say. We are a lot less dependent on foreign oil while we have lots of our own and are using theirs up. I say use theirs and then get to ours.

I think that if we're using up the middle east oil reserves, we should give them some of our natural resources, maybe lead would be a good trade? Don't get too excited about what you read about middle east oil. Iraq is not a big player with us, the US. Russia buys alot of their oil. There are other countries in the mioddle east besides Iraq, besides, Iraq said they don't contribute to terrorist activities.

So... if using Middle Eastern Gas doesn't support terrorism, then where do they get all their money?

People driving their big SUVs around are the ones who waste the gas. Why does that soccer mom need a big SUV getting like 12mpg? Do any of them actually use those vehicle's for work? They can do the same stuff with say... a minivan?

Intel...The way I see it, this is America. We have the freedom to choose what ever it is we want to drive. If the soccer mom wants to drive an SUV, she has the right to make that choice. Its not a matter of 'need'. You think that she should use a minivan...Who the hell are you to tell her what she can or can't drive? What's next...tell the kids to take their bikes to the soccer game? No...wait...It takes valuable resources to produce those bicycles, so maybe they should walk. Yea, that's it...Everybody stop driving, and lets all start walking. Where does it stop?

Doesn't the woman with the SUV use less gas driving those kids than if each of their mothers drove them one at a time?

I tell you what, nobody is going to tell me what I can't or should drive! I certainly don't use my 4wd that often, but this last week with all the ice and snow we've had I'm sure glad I had it.

Our imports are less than 10% middle eastern oil. 56% is from North America . 23% from Venezuala . The rest form around the globe. Just stop your **** scare tactics.

Hey I just got an email saying I'm a millionaire!!!! Time to start writing checks. Oh never mind , someone just called me Joe.

The e-mail you recieved is full of errors and has so many fallacies it is almost sad.

I get tired of people believing everything they ever see on the internet without checking for the truth. The site above is an excellent resource for debunking urban legends and e-mails like the one posted above.

You want some real facts with proof and graphs to back it up? --- Then go here -----> http://www.boycott-middle-east-oil.com/

It's more like 30% of oil that is Imported is from Mid-East - That is IMPORTED....America does produce it's own oil. Look at it at more of a percentage. If you buy gas at Lion Oil (never even heard of them), every drop is from the Mid-East ---- Others only import a percentage of their oil from the mid-east - I go to Citgo every time and my truck is running great. Amoco is now owned by BP so it's ok to buy from them.

Avoid Exxon, Mobil, Texaco, Chevron, Shell, Marathon

Thumbs down Re: Middle Eastern Oil

Listen to me very carefully. Every single e-mail you receive that asks you to forward it to others is CRAP!
The game is to make it believeable and something that will stir you to participate. The first part is to SUCK YOU IN! they are always followed with either "send this to X number of people" if it is a plan to get ahead, or send this to everyone you know" if it is a life and death type of trick. The object is to suck you in and make you their patsy to suck others in. Their joy is seeing it appear months later across the Country and attempt to bog down electronic traffic flow.

The *** hole who made up this garbage wants to reach 300 million people. That's greater than the population of the United States and incudes every man, woman and child, of which most don't have e-mail and certainly aren't all gas buyers!.

Now please, please don't get sucked in by this bull and don't let your friends get sucked in and tricked either! This nonsense must be stopped! We can do it, IF we work together. We have got to get the word out. If you truely care about your fellow man send this to 15 people. Not just any 15 people. Pick 15 people that are gullable, pick 15 people you really don't like, pick 15 people you already picked. Wait, that's 45 people...ok, send to 10 people then send it to yourself 5 times. At that rate we will reach 600 million messages sent! (and I will have accomplished my goal)
