The flareside bed is not straight, so I think it may cover more area than the style side, it has one heck of a curve from front to back, almost oval shaped.

I believe the Flareside truck would be lighter. Is this not the reason that the Lightnings are all flareside, because they are the lightest configuration in the Ford truck fleet ???? That is what I would have thought.

I would like to offer the following as evidence as to which is heavier.

GVWR Is the 'Total' Ford says can rest on the tires.
If you take the GVWR and subtract 'payload' what remains is what Ford says the 'truck' weighs.

GVWR, 6050-lb. (2060-lb. Payload -- Styleside w/120" W.B. or 2045-lb. Payload -- Flareside)
I would submit based on the above that the
Flareside weighs 15 more pounds than the Styleside
