I go out quading on a regular basis. Some SERIOUS off road terain. I NEVER see a H1 or H2 out there in 'Their' element. I see alot of Jeeps and a surprising number of Old School Broncos, but Never a Hummer....
.... I guess it just reinforces my opinion that they are made for the wanna-be soccer mom/dad who never take them over anything worse than a damn pothole!

Seems like the majority of the SUV's coming out these days are focused on the soccer mom types. They want room and a feeling of security while romping out to the field. It's all about function, not performance.

I agree...just the other day I saw a lady driving a brand new hummer, with 3 kids inside, and she had NO clue how to drive something that big! She was all over the road, and was cutting people off left and right. I saw her run a guy off the road completly b/c she came over on him, and he had no where to go
I have heard that you can't see out of them very well either, b/c they sit up so far and the way the mirrors are.

true, but if i had alot of money and wanted to do alot of off roading, i'd definately get an H1
they've got some pretty cool vids of the H1 offroading at www.hummer.com
They just look too good to get dirty . Why heck they just might get a scratch on it or worse yet ....break a nail . OMG that would just ruin the whole day because they would be too far away to get a decaffinated non-fat caffe latte to soothe their nerves.
We have a subcontractor that works for us who drives an H2. He takes that thing through some serious off-roading on the weekends. Doesn't mind scratching it up either. I've been out with him once and its pretty impresive where he can go with that thing.
Bleh. H1 = soccer mom van. H2 = bada$$! IMO, if your gonna buy a hummer, buy a real one, or don't buy one at all!

after going to the StL auto show this last saturday it kinda sickens me to see Ford bringing out this huge Excursion 4x4 with the V-10 diesel or gas that gets 10mpg for a mom with a couple bags of groceries and a kid or two. Same goes for the hummer! Who the hell NEEDS a hummer or a excursion? I dont see the point in either of them really IMO
all them soccer moms will be able to sleep at night when some drunk dumb **** hits them, he dies, and the mother her child and the neighbors child walks away from the accedent. Some of you are morons for assuming things like you do. I've been in the mountains of Colorado, and seen many Land Rovers and original Hummers out roaming, driving them through rivers a jeep wouldn't go accross, etc. Guess when we roll out to eat in the Freightliner FL-60 people say we dont use the truck for what it was designed for?

i was thinking the same thing! the H2 just looks like a bloated jeep or something. don't like it at all. H1 looks sooooo much tougher

back to your example ~ How about the average mom who can only afford an Explorer for her and her family who gets creamed by the cell phone talking idiot in the Hummer?? Hmmm, theres alot more 'Explorer' families on the road than 'Hummer' families...
AND, maybe you see the richie rides in Colorado, but I have yet to see a Hummer or Land Rover out in the dirt where I see all the Broncos and Jeeps playing here in CA....
