New Car Decissions
My last vehicle was a Chevy Truck. And I have no complaints about it reliability or performance. I sold it with 183k miles on it and it still got great milage and didn't use oil. Now I don't know about the GM cars.
BillP- You are forgetting about the camaro and TransAm RamAir. Those are rear wheel drive just like the vette. The TransAm I am fairly familiar with because I thought about buying one. I personally think the best "car" on the road is a BMW. And if I wanted to buy a car, I would bite the bullet and get a 3 series. A used 5 series if I could.
I don't care much for any American car except the Lincoln LS. Now that's a beautiful ride.

Nope, I didn't forget about the Camaro and Trans-Am. GM chose to quit making them.
Kind of funny that American manfacturers are discontinuing rear drives as the Japanese are adding more with their high-end luxury divisions
Remember when law enforcement had 3 American manufacturers to choose from for their police vehicles? Some of you are probably too young to remember since it's been so long since Chrysler made a rear drive car.
Well, Ford was the only one smart enough to keep their bread and butter Crown Vic.
BTW, I didn't say anything about GM trucks. I owned one a few years ago myself. My family has always been a Ford family so I had to see what all the fuss was about. I had no problems with the truck but went back to Ford once I got that out of my system. I didn't see any overwhelming evidence that made the GM better than the Ford.
Now don't even get me started on Chrysler vehicles!

I didn't know that GM had stopped production on the TA and Camaro. What a shame. It's goes with the territory though. They don't make anything to compete with the SuperCrew either. That avalanche is such a design flaw and accident waiting to happen that I just can't believe people would actually buy one. And on top of that, they are ugly.
I agree with you on the Chevy vs Ford thing. I have owned just about every label you can buy and most have been comparible in reliability and performance. I will not buy another Dodge however. I currently have a new Caravan that the wife drives that I bought last year due to the new power liftgate, and that liftgate is giving trouble and the belt always squeals. Had it to the dealer 4 times now to fix both. They can't seem to do it. I am selling it now and replacing it with a new EB Expy 4x4. I ordered it this week.
I do like the Mustang however, but I love the older ones. But maybe I'm partial because I used to own a 67 fastback. Would love to have another to build an eleanor clone.

As long as this is a pi$$ing match, I would suck up all of the benefits of buying a GM (the price issue), and buy a good Honda Accord or an Audi, something other than a GM product!
I have owned a mustang and yes the interior was junk, but that car also listed at around 20K, a comparable GM priced product is just as junky if not worse.
bluoval - you talking about GM products or the mustang? hehe
We had a 2001 Monte Carlo SS (that we traded on the HD) and it was a great car. The interior is well laid out and modern looking. The car was quiet at highway speeds and the GM 3.8 V6 is one of the most reliable engines around.
The F-body's on the other hand were crap. I wouldn't touch one of those either.

It reminds me of the older Mustangs. I like it. But I didn't know that the Mustang of today had such a bad rap for reliability and was being called junk. Are they really that bad? I haven't kept up with the Mustang since the 80s.
