Does the F-150 even have a purpose anymore?
What a pathetic WIMP!
FOUNDONROADDEAD - you are a TOTAL dork. You're so "clever" with your comments OR SO YOU THINK!
Okay - I challenge you to come up with some BONA FIDE, "like a rock" solid stats on your garbage heaps. Sales figures, total # of units produced/sold/still on the road. Bet you can't! Oh right - "you don't spend a lot of time here w/us lower class drivers so you'll conveniently NOT see this. Hmmmmmm. Uh huh. Forgot that.
Well, anytime you happen to cross the border into NY let me know. I'm not far from NF & I'll GLADLY come meet you - take pics of your truck (w/a disposable camera so I don't lose anything if it breaks) & have a good laugh! If you're a good BOY, I'll even let you apologize to me as a rep of this site! If I'm in a benevolent mood, I'll accept it! ROFLMBO!
As I tell ANY Chevy driver I meet, "Bite me Chevy boy - real drivers drive Fords". Granted that's not original but hey - works for me! You can email me thru the site here if you know how to do it.
BTW - check my reply to the post about "It's not a Ford, but man this rocks" - I figured out what all those rocks are under that Chevy "truck". LOL!
36fan - thanks! You KNOW I'm not usually like this but I cannot fathom why a die hard Chevy boy would come here to stir up trouble. I'd never go to a Chevy site - if I'm going to embarass them I do it in person! LOL! He's not even original enough to be good entertainment! What a troll!

This is gonna sound like a stupid question but how many people stil have farms?
Rural america is essentially gone. But if ya wanna argue...
We have a 225 acre ranch and I really dont ever remember havin a crew cab. A halfton reg cab(usually a long bed) always worked just fine for us. More than enough to haul a coupla horses or hay or whatever. For the heavy loads we had a gmc...well I dont remember the exact model but it was like the kodiak Big 2 ton axles, deisel, dual axles and a large stake bed. And rarely did either truck have more than 2 people in it and on the occasion there were we rode in the back. So tell me how anything ford ahs doesnt apply?

Jimkurta,
I understand your hesitation about moving to the new body style. I resisted for a long time and was very reluctant when I finally traded my '95 ext cab 4x4 for a '97 ext cab 4x4. The '95 felt and handled like a truck to me, the 97 felt and looked like a big car. My wife had a '98 at the time and my opinion then was it was OK for her, but I wanted a "real" truck. But I traded because I needed the third door and the 302 was just too underpowered for that truck and a 351 would have sucked too much gas.
The interior, engine, suspension, and 4x4 design (no hubs) all had me hooked pretty quick. I worked that truck pretty hard with hauling and towing and I was never dissapointed. I put over 80K on it in a few years with no major mechanical problems. The interior remained tight, quiet, and comfortable.
Of course it had the usual problems for the early trucks, poor braking, leaking rear sliding window, and the steering took some getting used to after driving the older ones for so long. But Ford has made improvements in all these areas. I believe the '99 and on steering and brakes to be much better. The 02 brakes are a huge improvement (4 wheel disk)
Bottom line is, I was soon able to look past the curves and plastic and began to rely on it as a truck. That being said, my thoughts on the SuperDuty:
My last purchace would have been a SuperDuty if it hadn't been for the fact that my wife and I sometimes need to switch vehicles. A SuperDuty crew cab (kids got too big for an ext cab) was just longer than she felt comfortable driving. She'd already driven an ext cab for a couple of years so was OK with the Supercrew length. (I know, the shortbed SD is only a couple of feet longer, but remember, we're talking about a women here (sorry CL)) The extra-short bed was no problem for me, I can just use my trailer for larger items. I can tow 8 round bails easily, and a mid-size tractor with loader and box blade without undue strain.
Like you, I like to buy more truck than I think I need to allow for unforseen things, so its sounding more and more like the SuperDuty would be a good choice for you. I have several friends here at work, and two brother-in-laws that own them and use them for work. (construction) They are all very happy with them and the PSD. But don't sell the F150 short, there's more truck there than it appears and its gained my confidence.
Good Luck in your search

well this nasty soup just keeps getting stirred. My opinoin. Jim and foundonroaddead need to take their ***** a**es out of our site. This site is for information not controversy. If we are satisfied with our F-150's, then so be it and it is no place for you two to criticize us for it.

Form follows function, or something like that (not a ford quote)
Basically, you can alway's get something to do a perticular job much better.
We had a F-350, and it wasn't enough truck, we upgraded to a F-550 and it wasn't enough truck, now we have a Freightliner FL-60 and it will due till we upgrade it.
Same thing goes for offroading, the Jeep Rubicon is nice, but their is much better, and even much better than the much better is the Avalanche Engr. Assassin.
Same thing goes, My 99 doesn't do bad on curves, but the L does much better, and even better than the L is an F1 car.
Same thing applyies to boats, planes, homes, trailers, and shoping carts. Some one will alway's have a better setup.
Now, the F-150 is a great, all around general use vehicle. It will pull me and your chick to the Lake with the 250hp Yamaha watercrafts just as well as it will bring in a bed load of dirt for Ma to get her garded all fixed up. It will bring home the groceries for fat *** people. Take others to the Jym. What happens when the Ranger meets the F-150 @ 50 mph head on?????? I would give the F-150 people a slightly better chance of walking away. Want a 5 person comfy people hauling 4x4 that will fit in the garage? Go buy a ranger or long *** bed chevy for that. Need something that will handle the roads good and comfy, but still haul your new 2002 Cobra, or even better, for those that want a bit more speed, the new Lambi Mercio (sp?)
Bottom line, if you dont like the F-150, go out and buy Ford or start your own company and quit complaning. If you want a Chevy or Dodge or whatever, go buy one, but I could give a rats *** for what you do. It wont effect me.
Oh yea, We own 2 chevy's. Couldn't pass up a great deal, so we just picked 2 up that night.

The fact is this jimkurta is not here to try and get information about a Ford. He is simply FOUNDONROADDEAD's playmate from school just taking another approuch. He try's to make himself look more educated then FOUNDONROADDEAD and does pretty well at it seeing FOUNDONROADDEAD is beyond moron material.
jimkurta take you nasty as* out of here and go find this magical truck your looking for. Good luck because IT ISN'T any where to be found.
You sound like some spoiled little brat that cry's when he can't have things the way he wants. Well to BAD this is reality so WAKE UP, and as you take your nasty as* out of here take your little play friend FOUNDONROADDEAD with you.

I read the first page from top to bottom.
I decided to see how many pages I have to go through before I can comment on this thread.
Seeing I had 6 more pages to go, I decided to grab a pop corn and wait for the movie.
Either way, I love my truck. It looks great. It will tow my future jet ski with no problem. And I love my truck.
I see your point Jim, but this is an f-150 enthusiast’s site. Not the partially interested in trucks site.

I wasn't gonna reply to this situation but I have something to say to the both of you. Everybody on this site and everywhere else in the world has their own personal tastes. Everybody drives the car that they feel comfortable with. It is a necessity for certain people to have to have a superduty truck while some people can get away with smaller cars or trucks. If you work in construction or plumbing or work on a farm or something like that then you probably need a superduty. We have a very good site going here and we do not like or want or want people here who are going to cause trouble. If instead of your insulting the F150 in your first post, you had asked the question like this.
"Hi, I am looking to buy a new truck. I need a truck that will withstand harsh conditions, because I work on a farm and have to haul heavy equipment. The F150 seems like it may not hold up to what I need it to do, But the Superduty seems a little to big. Do you guys have any suggestions on what I should do. I need something in between these two styles, something that is heavier duty than the standard F150 without going to the superduty.Thank you for any help in makiong my decision and why I should go with the F150."
You wouldn't have any problem with people helping you if you would have asked something like that. People here love to help others but then someone like you comes along and it gets out of hand.
Now for FOUNDONROADDEAD.
Like I said we all choose to drive what we want. I like others on this site choose to drive FORD F150's. You choose to drive a Chevy Z71. These are our choices that we made. Me? I have driven 2 F150's and have loved them both. I have the V6 and it does what I want it to. I do not have a major problem in Chevy's, but I do not like them. Just like you don't like Ford trucks. We like our site here and if you don't like it then you can go back to your Chevy sites and talk about us here, just don't come here and trash us. I do have one question for you. Why do you keep acting like a child every time someone says something that you don't like. If you don't like what I drive, then you can shut up and get off of this site. You have only made a few post posts and have made quite a few enemies. Is that what you were hoping for?

Well said Paul, but you should save your breath when it comes to FoundOnRoadDead, he's a lost cause.
We have a few "FoundOnRoadDead's" in my city, and I can tell you the common profile of this person.
* First of all, he's very insecure and strongly needs the approval of others with regards to everything he does.
* He bought a Chevy because all his friends and family drive Chevy's, so rather than make an informed decision on his own, he just follows the pack in hopes of getting their approval
* Probably between the age of 26-35
* works at some unskilled job at a plant or something (dad, cousin or uncle got him in there)
* Will never admit when he's wrong, when a guy like this has been proven wrong, he just disappears into the woodwork and hopes everyone will forget that he made an *** of himself (this is much easier than being a man, and admitting that he was wrong)
* Definitely has a "Calvin decal on his rear window (guys like this can't help themselves)
* I'm willing to bet he has a gigantic Chevy bow tie decal plastered across his rear window also, and also has a big *** toolbox in the bed that he bought for looks (all he keeps in it are some booster cables "which he needs", and maybe a pair of work boots)
I think I know him.... Mike, is that you? I knew I would find you on here, ya rascal!

Habibi -
I resent the statement: " * Probably between the age of 26-35"
There are plenty of us in this age group who have a spine! I do know what you're talking about though. This guy seems to follow the pack and speaks up only when his friends are looking. Peer pressure should be left in high school.

Hey, you guys think this is easy?
Everything I know about profiling, I learned on CNN.
( I fit in that age group myself), so no need for anyone here to be offended or anything, it's all in fun.
And another thing!
If any of y'all can do a better profile, then by all means, get to work, I enjoy being entertained just like the next guy.

What about:
* Hung like a field mouse
* Weak minded and boring
* Uneducated and proud of it!
* Slightly overweight, yet has skinny weak arms
* Spends a lot of free time on the computer surfing ****.
* No girlfriend/wife
* Tells people he's single because he loves single life
* He's really single because he's broke, ugly, weak and a general loser
How was that? I think that probably describes FoundOnRoadDead pretty well.
