Does the F-150 even have a purpose anymore?
I do have the tow PKG, we could always take him for a drag, let's see who is really "F.O.R.D"
one more thing, with the 7700 tow PKG the frame is much stronger than the stock frame on std. 150's. I hope this alleviates some of your fears of the frames being weak for your"work truck"

Wow, seems he hasn't come back......
Ya know, Jim, we are nice people, us Ford people, and were you to have asked for some input and opinions, then more than likely, we would have given plenty, both good and bad for you to base your next purchase on, Life Lesson: Dont come in somewhere and trash what we all love and especially don't trash the owners
O.K.?
have a nice day and let the nanner dance

Oh boy!
I tried NOT to repsond to this as my friends here have covered so many points it seemed a moot point to jump in BUT I'm going to anyhow.
I have, as my sig shows, a 1st yr model - reg cab, longbed & 4.6. I admit I have nothing to tow but I know I CAN should I need to & have no doubt as to my trucks capability to handle that. I have the tow package & the prev owner DID use it - no harm to my truck at all.
As for power - I still grin when I nail the gas & take off & no - I am not chipped. I had a 390 also - the 390HP out of a 64 Tbird & know the power of that too. In a car it was awesome. In a truck it seems a bit of a waste - I don't drag race w/my truck UNLESS it's against a Chevy/GMC. My 4.6 has always left them looking at my tailgate & I am not bragging. It's NOT hard to blow a Chevy away off the line or at a light. Heck, it's not even a challenge!
My truck can tow, haul, race, go off road very well even in stock form & still be comfortable to drive. I don't need a heavier duty truck but if I did I also know Ford makes plenty for me to choose from. No problem there either.
Your comment that F150's appeal to lesbians really offends me. Let me assure you I am not a lesbian but I love my truck as much as any of the guys here love theirs. I am not commenting on the sexual preferences of others - I am merely stating that I am a heterosexual woman who can be as "dainty" as any woman who drives a sensible car. I DID need a 4WD truck - my Dad was terminally ill & lived 90 miles away & I needed something I TRUSTED to get me to him in the event of an emergency. Even after he died I decided to keep my truck as I live in 1 of the snowiest parts of the state & need to be able to get where I need to - safely. I won't get rid of my truck. It does everything I need it to & more.
You mention a Toyota or Nissan - their "full size" trucks are not much bigger than a Ranger from what I've seen & definitely smaller than an F150. I see NO advanatage there.
As for your points about the Chevy or Dodge - they can't do any more than an F150 can IMO. Dodge's tranies are notoriously weak & 1 friend has gone thru 3 so far (he has a '99) & he doesn't tow or off road - at all! Chevy's new AWD is new for them if Im correct (I may not be) so I wouldn't tout it's praises until it PROVES it's reliability. I'll gladly stick w/my 4WD thank you!
Now - this is for FOUNDONROADDEAD - you little punk! I don't know who you are but I can assure you your remarks admirably show your stupidity! I'd love to know what you drive - show some pics so we can SEE it. Whatever it is I can drive rings around you KIDdo with the emphasis on kid! The guys here suggested you don't have certain "parts" & I agree. But, in addition to what they are referring to I'd like to add you lack a backbone & a brain. I know where you can get the parts they said you lack - there's a website for that. Sorry - I have no idea where you can find a brain or backbone - have you tried to go see The Wizard of Oz? ROFL! Go clean your room & mind your Mama before you end up grounded & she takes your bicycle away!!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys! This guy's ID doesn't show up on searches - wonder if he was sent packing! In a way I hope not - we can always use him for amusement purposes!
Wonder if he'll see my post? Hmmmmm - let's see if he responds. He's probably calling all his buddies now to ask what he should say! LOL!

Yes it tends to take him a VERY LONG time to respond. I don't know if that is due to a long breast feeding session, can't get on computer till all his grade school homework it done, studies for spelling test. It could be a number of things so hard to say.
Ford has for years manufactured the F-150 to be a universal truck. I admit, I do have some gripes about it (I'd like a regular length box to be available with the supercrew), but not any vehicle is going to be perfect...
A few things that have bothered me about your posts...
The 5.4L is nowhere near the equivilant of the 323. It translates into a 330 cid engine and it has a SOHC design. The power output is impressive for the size of the engine. Torque is the highest it's ever been for the small block V-8's.
A stiff ride denotes stiff shocks and low unsprung weight (i.e. a light axle and light tire/wheel combo's.
It's not a "light" duty truck. I can pull anything my dad's 2k2 F-250 PSD can (albeit with a bit more work than his, but at the end of the day, I've gotten the same job done). Also, not everyone has the extra 8-10 grand to throw around.

fleas right. our f-1's can get alot of work done that heavier trucks can with out laying down 8 grand more. now if i had a purpose for a huge truck id lay down the money but as for me now, nope.
