What is an "X-Plan" purchase?
I see a lot of talk about people buying vehicles on the "X-Plan" and the great deals that it brings. Please pardon the ignorance here, but what is it? How do I get it?

X-plan is one of the Ford Motor Company discount plans. Known also as the Friends and Family plan. Everyone I ask (boss, HR, co-workers, dealer) tells me a different percentage over invoice or a-plan. Basically to get it, you need to know an employee of Ford. They get 2 a year and can use them to persuade people to buy a Ford, or for a good friend or family member not covered by their a-plan. You must keep the vehicle for at least 6 months if you use X-plan. When my mom bought her Volvo I got her an X-plan PIN from my boss (co-ops don't get vehicle purchase benefits) but she ended up getting a better deal without it. I think a lot of the suppliers and dealerships are also offered x-plan. Hope this helps.
You do not need to be a Ford employee.
I work for BP/Amoco/Arco and since we are a HUGE Ford customer, they let us have the x-plan. Personally, everytime I've attempted to use the x-plan, I've beat the deal. The X-plan is good for people who want a no-hassle decent deal. I want to fight for every dollar!
