Question V10 Owners

Hi

Im curious. Forgot where i saw thread..but they were talking about a new type spark plug harness?...has to be replaced if its every removed/not reuseable. Dont recall if that was the 03 model or all V10s.

So along with $$$ for new plugs...its also $$$ for this harness or what ever its called. Wonder why?

Also...i recently saw an OEM a/t temp. guage in a fairly new SD. Didnt know Ford put those in SD...is that something new? Anyhow i think that is a "Better idea by Ford"

Tks. OT

They started the A/T guages this year, and from what I have heard they are not very accurate...A guy did a test on it and the sweep position Vs. the temp didn't sync out..

They are from Ford-the ones with the oil pressure/not pressure guage..

A friend of mine wants to buy a 2003 F350 with the v10. He was wanting to know if there are any problems with the v10 and he doesn't use the net so I told him I would ask around. Thanks.

OT - can't help you - not even close to a plug change on my '02 yet.

drop-top - Approaching 13K miles on my 6 month old '02 V10 with not a problem yet. I know that isn't much of a workout, but I have seen others with many more miles indicate they weren't having any problems either.

The V10 uses a coil on plug system. I couldn't imagine having to replace all those. The plugs should be good for 100k anyway. There really hasn't been too many problems with the V10. Not enough to avoid it anyway. The Ford tranny guage is buffered. It doesn't move unless the temp gets way high. By then you've got problems. It's just a gimmick.

99 F-250SD V-10 crew cab long bed... just turned 46K miles. Only problems so far are the overdrive lockout died - broken wires in the shifter. $475 to fix... Getting a shudder in the trans, particularly from a stop when I'm pulling my trailer. I have an extended powertrain warranty so the trans will be covered. Otherwise, great vehicle. Only real complaint is it's affinity for gas stations
