what am I missing?

Just bought a used '99 F250 superduty, 5.6, auto, x-cab, 8' box, 4x2, losded. There are 2 "holes" in the bumper where the previous owner obviously removed either a) fog lights, or b) tow hooks, or c) I don't know what. What is most likely missing from this particular truck?

By the way, I bought this truck for a work truck cause it was CHEAP. the catch is it had an incredible 186,000 miles on it. Can't decide if I got a really good deal or I'm an idiot. Trucks in relatively good shape and everything works, runs great. I don't know for sure but I'm hoping and figuring it almost has to be highway miles. I guess time will tell..........................

I've got tow hooks on my truck, an early 2000, so if you don't have them, that's probably what's missing. Try going by your Ford dealer and checking out the used section for any superduty trucks and compair them to your's.

The previous owner may have installed a brushgaurd, and then removed it before selling the truck. The brushgaurds typically mount where the tow hooks are. When they removed the brushgaurd, they probably didn't have the tow hooks anymore and just left the holes open.

Thanks Tina and 36fan,
Never thought of the brush guard thing, I'll bet thats exactly right. Wondered if it would have had tow hooks since it is a 4x2.
Thanks again

My company uses the newer 4x2 SD's and they have tow hooks.

Glad to hear that a 5.4 has 186,000 miles and is still
running strong
If I got that many miles out of my truck I'd one happy camper
