Talking I got it.

Well I went and did it. I got my Superduty (see sig. below) the only thing is that it wasn’t the color I really wanted. But the deal was to good to pass up. I ended up paying just over 26k for it plus the dealer put a lot into my trade, they really like me. So far I really like it. Although my wife dislikes the color, Oxford white over silver. I think it will grow on me, and the more I see it the more I like it. It will be a change over my old black 150. Hopefully it will be easier to maintain. It seamed that I was waxing my old one once a month just to keep it looking good. I did fill the tank once so far and ended up with 201.4 miles and 13.58 gal. Which boils down to about 14.8 mpg. Not to bad for an engine that only has 300 miles on it. Now it's time for accessories. First off I am looking at some Husky Liner brand mudflaps. They look like they would protect pretty well and they come with a lifetime warranty. Next will be a stone guard for the hood, but I am looking for one that won't scuff the top of my grille. Any suggestions? It looks like I only have about 5mm between the hood and grill. Thanks for all the help.

Congradulations on the new truck!!! White is a Workable color. At the diesel rally in KY this year, two of the prettiest trucks there were white. Course the reason they looked so good was because they had had custom decals put down each side. That really made a world of difference and you can use any color combination you like on the decal. I've got custom decals on my dk green truck too, makes it look soooo much better than just the plain ol truck. As far as mudflaps, I've got the Ford ones. They're cheap, look pretty good, they're cheap, work well, and did I mention that they're cheap!! Another thing to look into is door protectors. They go inside the truck and keep the side from being scuffed up by your feet. Get some window ventshades too. Have you got any running boards or nerfs?? The bug guard I installed was called Stampede. I had to have them use a drimel tool on it to trim up the edges around the chrome grill. After that, I've not had any problems with them touching each other. Again congratulations with the new truck and have fun adding the mods to it.

Question Question for Tina

Tina,
In your post you mentioned door protectors, please tell me more about them, and where to get them, cost, etc. Have a 2002 SD CC, being built as we "speak".
Thanks

Thumbs up

They're called "stepshields" but my truck already had a rubber piece where you step to get into the truck. These things actually match that piece and go on the side right below the stock ones that are in the truck. Really helps to protect that side, especially if you're getting into the truck with muddy boots on. The upper stock piece is tan (same as interior) and the stepshield is black but it has the same "bump" pattern and looks pretty good. Much better than scratched paint would look. I got them from a truck accessory store here in town. They were about $30 for all 4 doors.

Talking

Well I've had my Superduty for about two weeks now and still love it. I spent all day last Sunday claying, glazing, and two coats of wax. I really don’t mind the color. I think it looks pretty sharp. I did end up getting the Husky liner mud flaps and like them a lot. They fit very well and installation was a snap. I didn’t even have to remove any wheels. The past fill ups with gas has given me a surprise. It seems that my fuel gauge lies a bit. It will show a little under a half and I can only get 13 gallons in, but I guess it better than being the other way around. I also have been keeping tabs on my fuel mileage. First tank, really a half tank yielded 14.6 mpg. Second = 14.3. Added a custom make (by myself) hard bed cover and just filled again this evening, yielded 16.6mpg. I had to check it twice to see if I pushed the correct buttons but it was correct. I didn’t expect this truck, especially only having 700 miles on it to get that kind of mileage. My old 150 had a hard time getting 15.5mpg. Thanks for all the help.

Glad to hear your mileage went up after just a couple weeks of ownership.
