My 7.3L's are factory, but the 6.4L's are the old body style lookalikes from ebay.

I did a little experiment for the last 2 days.. I filled up tuesday morning, reset the odometer and have been driving it as easy as possible. Starting off in 2nd, shifting at 1800 rpm or less and not driving over 65 mph, shifting to neutral and coasting to a stop,no ac. This morning i had 114 miles on the tank and it was sitting between full and 3/4. Filled up on 6.9 gallons. Did the math and it came to 16.5. Not bad at all. I understand this will probaly never happen again under normal driving but i just wanted to see the best i could pull off.

Pretty good, but that is no fun though. I go hammer down big time even if I see a stop sign up the road.

I just got 10 new Motorcraft Plugs and 10 new Visteon COPS (thanks GLC for the recommendation for these cops) The truck runs like a brand new one off the lot, hell it idles better than my 07.

Anyway i was looking threw the manual this morning and it said the manual transmission hold 3.2 quarts of full synthetic mercron atf. Does motorcraft have the full synthetic fluid or do i need to go with another brand? If i need to go with another brand what is a good brand to go with?

I checked the antifreeze and it looks real good, changed oil and filter, air filter, fuel filter, rearend fluid. All thats left is the transmission fluid..

Thanks guys

...on a side note, since that appears to be a 2wd. When I was turning around on a hilly yard today it made me think, since I'm in 4wd pickup area and its been quite a while since I even sat in a 2wd larger than a mini truck, is their an option for a low range in full size 2wd pickups? I find many times that traction isn't the issue, but a lower range is. Heck I wish I had the option for low range in 2wd right now.

He has a ZF5 in that truck. 1st gear is a granny low and 5th is overdrive. You normally drive it like a 4 speed, starting in 2nd.

There hasn't been a granny in 1/2 ton trucks for many years now, and now you can't get a manual of any kind. The only full size truck left with a manual is a diesel Ram (3/4 or 1 ton), it offers a 6 speed manual with granny low.

There has never been an automatic with a granny-type low that I'm aware of. Not really needed with a torque converter.

I suppose you could get a Gear Vendors overdrive unit and regear the axle to something nuts like 5.13's. This ain't cheap.

Having seen how much Gear Vendors wants for one of their Overdrives... you're better off selling your truck and using the money to buy a 4x4. It's $3000 you likely won't see back when you go to re-sell the truck.

When i first got the truck i went to walmart to get the oil changed and new sylvania silverstars for the truck.. Walmart installed the lights for me.. Last night i get our 30 foot 5th wheel Jayco hooked up and it was getting dark. I turned on the headlights and took off. About 5 miles down the road i started smelling something burning, pulled off the road got out and saw flames and black smoke coming from the passenger front compartment. Popped the hood and a pretty good size fire, i finally got it out with a gallon of water.

Apparently the dumbass' at walmart didnt put the light all the way in and it caught the plastic on fire and it caught the wire harness on fire..

So off to walmart to raise hell

Had a talk with walmart and they paid me 300.00 for the damage.. So i went and got some smoked Halo head lights..

Anyway we made the 250 mile trip home today with our 30 foot Jayco weighing 7800 lbs.. On I20 running 60-65 with a head wind i avg 8.5 mpg. Got to abilene and filled up and the last 90 miles i avg'd 10.5 running 65. Very impressed with this v10, It didnt seem like it even broke a sweat.

Pics to come in a few days with the new headlights.
