Question about 01 F250 7.3L that I might buy...

I found a 01 F250 with the 7.3 and about 87K on mileage.

My question is whether or not I should buy the truck. The reason I ask is from what I can gather the coolant fluid has never been changed. Apparently the oil has on schedule and the truck looks pretty clean overall. I know that this engine does not have cylinder liners and that a poor coolant might cause cavitation and damage the cylinder walls. So just flush it and go or pass on it?

Thanks for any thoughts...

Flush it and go. Finding *ANY* 7.3 with less than 100k on it is a great find!

Yeah. There's a lot of info out there on flushing the coolant system in those.

I wouldn't worry a single bit about it. Everybody always talks about how it "could" damage the motor by not changing it, yet I've never heard of it actually happening.

For sure be happy to pick that one up. My '02 will be comin' up on 60k, and I'll be doing the coolant then, but if it had the Motorcraft gold coolant from the factory, I wouldn't worry none.

Here it is...

The detail shop where I bought it went over the whole thing with armor all it looks like, but it is pretty clean anyway. Hopefully no gremlins emerge as I own it going forward. Need to replace a mudflap and put linex in it instead of the plastic bed liner. Had all the fluids replaced and it seems to be running ok. So now I'm going to drive it and maintain it according to my standards instead of the shiffer for brains that had it before me. Thx fellas.

Clean little shorty truck. I prefer a long bed, but for that deal I'd run 'er. Already got the best tires I like for these trucks as well.

First change I'd do would be to swap out for towing mirrors. I ditched the flipper mirrors quick on my '08.

Real mirrors, tint, and real tires.
