Looking to Upgrade from F-150 to 250 Diesel Soon..A Few Questions
Good morning everybody, hope everyone had a great holiday and new year.
I've had my 05 F-150 for about a year and a half and so far things have been fine. My job requires a bit of off road driving and nearly living out of my truck about 4-5 months out of the year. I drive 30k miles a year easily, sometimes more. While the 150 is doing fine for me now, I am in a position to make a profit now on the truck and put it towards something else. If I continue driving my truck as it sits, I'm afraid with the miles its going to soon have on it, the problems will begin and the value will decline.
I do very little towing, but as I said, lots of time is spent offroad and working in rural and undeveloped areas. I'd like to find a truck I can drive 4-5 years and not be worried about putting too many miles on it or it not lasting.
I've done a bit of research and know about the 6.0L EGR and Headbolt issues, and with my requirements, the newer 6.4 is probably going to be it for me. I know I am not going with a diesel for the same reasons as most do, but for a daily driven vehicle for my needs I think it would fit the bill.
Any issues or problems to watch out for? Mileage isn't a huge concern as my company pays for gas, but I'm only getting 13-14 at best in my truck now anyway.

Crew Cab F250 if you need a truck... have you considered a 4x4 Ford Excursion? Just thought if you will be 'pracitcally living out of it.' Do not know if you need a 'truck' or just the towing power.

I love my 08 F250. I haven't had any issues, but there have been some recalls on fuel injectors and radiators and a few other little things. Just be sure all the recalls and TSB's have been completed, and I really don't think you can go wrong. These trucks will last a really long time, as long as you take care of them. Maintenance is a little higher, but you can probably expense things like oil changes and fuel and air filter replacements.
I have a 2006 F-350 diesel. I would avoid the diesel for your needs. The maintanance costs are a lot higher with the diesel. The diesel is ment for TOWING. not a daily driver. If I had it to do over at this time, I would have kept my 150, or gotten a V-10

Edit: I am getting 12 City/16.5 Highway for fuel mileage with my bone stock F350.
