Its not just the power, I also like the solid front axle and conventional steering which is more capable off road. I test drove a V10 auto with 4.10 gears this past Sat, and it has much more power than my F150 up hill. I will look into a tuner, but still am leaning for a super duty.
sure a straight axle is more capable offroad, but on a huge truck its not going to fit any where on a trail
im assuming you have a 4.6 since you said no supercharger is available? with a tune you will rape a stock 5.4 with my 35s and a tune and intake i would keep up besides my low end. talk to tarajame about a supercharger, he knows what you need to make it work, i think he said everything is pretty much bolt on besides a few fabrications which any good performance shop should be able to do and make work.

while the power is better, my 6.0 stock wont beat a 5.4 in a race.

If you plan on buying it and leaving the engine stock, then buy the V10. If you plan on modding it to get massive power from the engine, get the diesel. With nothing more than a Spartan tune, DPF delete, CAI, and exhaust, you can easily get 600 hp and 1000 lb-ft of torque to the ground with the diesel.

I test drove a 09 v10 350.
I personally didn't feel it had all that much power that some people believe.
If it pushed the power that it does, and weighed less, It would be better, but being the truck weighs so friggin much, it really seemed to lack the omph you'd think it would have.

honestly, the superduty will probaby cost more in inusrance, plus the loss of 4 grand on the trade in, I'd keep the F-150 and re-gear it, add e-fans, rear sway bar and enjoy it, but if you want the extra room and are looking for more power stock then get the V-10, I miss my V-10 and I will be getting another one when I get back from Germany (add a lil' boost and we'll see how it tows)...
