I need some info on particulate filter delete kits. Who makes the best one? Are you seeing improved fuel economy afterward?

You'll get a lot better MPG but you're going to need a tuner, custom tunes, and be prepared to kiss your warranty goodbye.

If you feel lucky, go for it. The thought of $7000 for a new engine if something goes wrong would scare me away.

Almost forgot- if DOT catches you without it on there........ Be prepared for a HEFTY fine.

It looks like SCT makes a kit that includes the plumbing and programmer for about $1300, which is not too bad considering how much I paid for the Banks kits on my 6.0. I was really hoping to hear form someone that has done this.

I have heard that people with the DPF delete are getting around 17-20 MPG when they drive sensibly, but most people who have installed them are probably still getting 12 MPG. This is due to the fact that the type of person who would install this type of kit is not the type of person who would drive sensibly anyway. The increase in MPG is not really the point of installing the kit. The point of installing it for most is the power gain that you get from installing it.

With that said, I was willing to give up a few MPG for the gain in everything else. Go sit in and drive an old F150 (pre 2004) then sit in and drive a newer F150 (2004 and up). The difference between the old Super Duty and the 08 Super Duty is the same. Everything is nicer. The interior is light years ahead. The ride is better. The truck is quieter. My buddy has an 06 Harley Davidson F350, which has the absolute nicest interior you can get in a Super Duty (unless you like the fresh dead cow interior in the KR) and he always feels bad when he gets into my 08 FX4. Drive both the 08 and the old Super Duty before deciding due to fuel mileage.

PS - If fuel economy is a concern, maybe a Super Duty is not for you.

Hehe...$7000 won't even buy you half of a new 6.4l engine. The 6.4l engine is a $7000 option, but a replacement engine is closer to $15,000.

Go over to www.powerstroke.org and look at the 6.4l forum. There are lots of people over there running delete kits and the general concensus seems to be that the KEM and Spartan kits are the best.

if you search the net for 6.7 "scorpion" you may find some info, the 2010 emissions include the use of Urea fluid in the exhaust to reduce oxides of nitrogen. with that said they can get much more performance and fuel economy out of the engine because they will now be able to use higher combustion temps and deal with the NOX in the tailpipe instead of the engine.

Your getting up to 22mpg? Is that the trucks computer telling you that or are you figuring that out by gallons vs miles and a calculator?

He has a two wheel drive...they do get better fuel mileage. Most of the people who are getting 12 MPG (myself included) have four wheel drives with larger tires (mine are 35x12.5x20).
