Factory Brakes

when is everyone usually replacing their factory brakes on the SuperDuty?? My dad is doing his as i type, and when he went in to get his new pads, the guys at the local parts stroe were amazed he got over 100,000 on his factory ones. does this not happen often??

Wow! 100K on factory brakes! Must do alot of highway!...........

not really...we pulled tractors, 5th wheels, dozers, all that good stuff. i think the most highway its ever seen was a road trip to alabama. trips to garner with 5th wheels. it just shows how long stuff can last if you take care of it.

100K on stock Brakes? Haven't seen it in my lifetime!...........

Usually with care your looking at around 75k miles for replacements...

I bet the rest of Dad's truck is in good shape too!

yep. except for the cow dent on his fender. stupid thing was SO hungry for a range cube, it decided to get physical.

but he actually told me his still wasnt even down to the metal yet on the pads. thats the only thing he replaced. he got the rotors turned too.

he said when he bought it he wants it for at least 10 yrs....so far it will make it, unless deisel $$ drives him to sell.

so i guess its not as uncommon as i thought, but still pretty rare. His is an '02, but the only reason he did his brakes, was because he is getting ready to hual a brand new 35 ft 5th wheel this weekend, so he wanted to make sure he can stop it.

My 1999 F-150 went 110K (or somewhere in there) on the original factory front pads. I'm also wondering what brakes people are putting on their Superduties...

i can ask my dad what brand he put on. He is close friends with a guy in a neighboring town that races dirt track and owns a auto parts store, so he knows what is good and what isnt...i will lwt you know though
