Steve, how do you like your new truck? I am considering placing an order for a new '08 F250 XLT 4x4 Crew with the V-10 and 4.10's. All the dealers have out here in Ohio are the 5.4L's and diesels...only one V10 came up on their search and it didn't match what I was looking for. I test drove one of the 5.4L's and was very impressed with the ride quality. I have been in some 3/4 tons that about jar the fillings out of your teeth, but the new 250 rode extremely well. I was also impressed by the room in the back seat...very spacious. The dealer offered to let me take one of the 5.4L's for a day or so, even though he knows I will be ordering one. May take him up on it this week. My '01 F-150 Supercab has served me well, but we are looking for a more capable tow vehicle (tow 6,500 lb camper + 2 teens+2 large dogs + firewood + bikes). Since we need a newer vehicle, might as well go for the 250 for future growth needs. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Brad

Brad,
The truck is awesome. imo I think it rides better than my 150 did. Most of the older 250/350's iv rode in all ride rough. When i first took it for a test ride i was really suprised at how well it rides. I took it on a 300 mi trip this weekend and it performed great. The computer mpg's said it was getting around 10 but i think its too early to tell. I think you will really be happy with a 250. If you have any other questions let me know.

Thanks for the info. and the offer Steve. Funny, I thought the same thing about the ride of the new 08 versus my 150...I just couldn't get over the fact that I was in a 3/4 ton truck. How is the power of the V10 versus the V8 you test drove? I hope that gas mileage rises some as the truck breaks in. Was your trip mainly highway miles? BTW, I grew up in Westmoreland county in PA, and am a Pitt alumni. I still miss the 'ole town at times. Been in Ohio for 17 years and still cheer for the Steelers (converted my wife from the Browns in fact). Thanks again. Brad
I never was able to test one with the 5.4. All the trucks around here were V10 or diesel. Was going to order one with the 5.4 but the dealer talked me out of it for the V10. My trip was mainly highway and the other roads were up and down through the mountains but i was still able to run around 50-60mph on them.
Not encouraging a flame war, just soliciting oppinions, and perspectives:
Gentlemen,
Don't you find the interior of the new super duties to be too luxurious for a truck? My perspective on the vehicles is that they are too "Prissy." The outside looks mean and sexy for a truck, but then once you get on the inside the gauges, and trim remind me of a Dainty PT Cruiser, Audi, or BMW.
So here's my questions for you:
Are their costs becoming less a matter of function and more a matter of status?
What do you think of the interiors?

I spend more time in my truck than in my own bed, so why not have an interior you can be comfortable in. If a luxury car could pull a trailer/car/quads and came in a 4WD, maybe they'd be a consideration.
If you are buying a truck to be beat in the oilfield and will regularly be stuck in the muskeg or on an industrial site, than buy a stripped down XL.
I really don't see your point here. You pay alot for these upgraded interiors and trim and if you don't want it, you have the choice NOT to pay for it.
