While it was the 99 model year the first early 99s (built in 98) were intercooled. All of the OBS trucks from 94.5-97 did not have an intercooler factory.

Its not overly hard, but you will need to modify the core support for the new tubes to go through. You will also need to fab up a mount for the intercooler. Most of the OBS guys get a stock intercooler setup from a 99+ 7.3L or 6.0L. Only thing is the only thing on the 6.0L you can use would be the intercooler.

There are aftermarket kits out there. You can run a Spearco (my choice), Hypermax Tapercore, Banks Technicooler, as well as a few others. Though they don't always include a mounting kit, but some do. You'll just have to ask, though be prepared as those 3 I listed are $1000+. I think there was somebody selling a OBS kit for the stock 7.3L intercooler setup. I haven't seen him around lately so I'm not sure if he's still doing it.

My advice, stay away from Banks. That is unless you like paying double the price. The Technicooler and the Big Head are about the only thing from them that I'd consider, and thats only if it was for a smokin price.

You'll be way ahead in performance with the Spearco unit. You can build your own setup that will out perform any Banks setup for literally 50% less. My truck would run head to head with a fully decked out Banks truck, and I only had $800 invested (exhaust, intake, chip). With the trans and turbo its not even a contest. And the funny thing is even after all that I still have about the same amount invested as the full Banks kit.
