A friend of mine wants to sell me his 2002 F250 Super Duty with 68,000 miles for $30000. The thing is, this truck has 29 (yes, 29) inches of lift, and is sitting on 49" Boggers. It is a SUPER nice truck and I know he has put no less than $50,000 in mods into it. I keep telling him that he can sell it for more than that, but for some reason he's just got 30k stuck in his head. I really have no interest (nor the money) in owning a truck that huge, but it would be kinda cool for a while. It just makes me think it may be worthwhile to take out a loan, buy the truck for $30,000, and turn around and sell it for 40 or 45k. What do you guys think? I wish I had a pic with a list of mods, but I don't. Just imagine everything you could possibly put into a truck and I guarantee it's in there.

 

Bad idea. I don't know about everybody else but for me, if I wanted a truck with all that done to it, I'd want to do it myself. Just because he's done $50k worth of work doesn't mean the truck is worth more. It's still an 02' F250 with nearly 70k on the clock. Maybe you could make money off it but I wouldn't count on it. Just my opinion. I don't trust to many other peoples work so a heavily modded truck, for me, loses value. I don't know who did the work and it probably has been abused. That's the way I look at it.

 

I see where you're coming from but like I said he's a friend of mine and the shop that did all of the work has a VERY good reputation. He has only had the truck out in the mud 2 or 3 times and he takes extremely good care of it. His mud truck is a jeep (not sure what model) on 63 inch tractor tires. He does not run the 250 hard at all. If it were anybody else I would be skeptical, but I have seen how he treats his trucks.

 

Is it a diesel?? I dont think I would do it either. Do not think you would get your money out of it. Look what you said, u be skeptical if it was anyone else. Someone buying it from you would probably be skeptical all about it too... Just my $0.02

 

It is a diesel. I didn't think of it like that but you're absolutely right. I still think that $30,000 is a good deal, but you are right in saying that I probably wouldn't get much more than that from anybody else. I wasn't planning on buying it, just kind of toying with the idea. It really is a clean truck. I'll post a pic or two in the next couple days so you guys can see it. It's crazy because to get in you have to reach all the way up to the door handle and virtually do a pull up on the door. I have a 2002 4x4 F150 with 4 inches of lift and the Ford emblem on his tailgate is higher than the roof of my truck.

 

Sounds like an awesome truck, but that is still a lot of money for a 2002. I would love to see some pics though.

 

Alright I only got one pic and it was dark out so it's not that great. I tried to adjust the contrast the best I could. I'll get another one during the day with my truck next to it for comparison purposes.

 

he wants 30 grand and it has 68k on it?? thats to expensive in my opinion. you can get a 05-06 less miles. those are nice mods but that kind of cash id buy newer.

 

thanks for posting the pic, that is cool looking! i guess it's up to you but you could buy a newer one yourself and customize it, that way you did it.

that is a pretty nice truck and might be worth it but i was just on ebay motors and i saw a 2005 ford f350 duallie lariat crew cab powerstoke fx4 like new for 30000

 

Good idea. PS. if you did buy it, the first thing you would need is a Little Giant ladder to store in the back if you even wanted to use the bed for anything.
