any bolt-ons to make this dog faster?

05 f-350 super doodie. 5.4 3v.

slowest thing I've ever owned. It's embarassing. I haven't even seen an intake kit available for it yet. I was hoping that I hadn't looked hard enough, and some of you here might have found something, or have some tricks.

Thanks, Aaron

Modding directions:

1. Go to dealership
2. Buy Mustang GT
3. Drive Mustang GT when you want to be fast

Well, realistically speaking, you bought one of the heaviest F-Series pickups available with the lowest rated engine available. Step up to the V10 or diesel, or see Troyer Performance for a tuner and exhaust setup to help a bit.

Exclamation

Buy a new truck with either the V-10 or 6.0. I don't know why they put the 5.4 in the SD. It is great in the F-150, but NOT in the SD.

Why did you buy a big a$$ truck with a tiny motor? I can't believe ford even offers the 5.4 in the super duty.

the 5.4 has issues in some F-150 owners trucks...in the F250 the 5.4 is the standard engine, the six speed manual can get it moving ress. quick...But in a F-350 doddie the miss spelling pretty much descibes the truck....

5.4 in a SD is fine, if it fits the buyers needs. It sounds like it's not what fits your needs.

BTW, Buy a SD wiht a 6.0, tuner only and smoke a Mustang GT. Light duty diesel trucks, not what they used to be.

i would go with a tuner and exhaust. i have this same truck and it doesnt really start to "somewhat" take-off until 3000 rpm. my uncle has an 02 250 w/the 2v 5.4 and it takes off faster than my 3v 5.4 (same cab and bed). this tells me that a tune would be best, i think its the way the computer is set up. also, i put an x-pipe, 2 maganaflow si/so mufflers, and 2.25" tailpipes and it seems to take-off a little faster. the only thing that will get these goin will be a supercharger.

I really can't believe you guys are knocking the 5.4 that much. It serves its purpose very well. My father has a 250 with a 2v 5.4 and owns a boat bussiness. It tows 26+ ft boats very well. What more do you want? I mean, if you really want to pull more than that, you have to realize what you are doing, and step up to the v10 or the big D. If you want a race car, buy a fri ggin race car. Or again, get the BIG engine. I love when people save a 1000 dollars to get the base model engine then dump 5000 into it to make it "fast." My old truck (which I bought from my dad) was an 85 f150 with HD suspension, a 300 inline 6, and LOW gears, also towed just fine. It served its purpose very well, with what, 150 hp? Was it a race car? No, but it was peppy with the gears, but I had to realize that 70mph on the highway was it. If I wanted to go fast, or haul huge, I would have got a truck with the 460. (the BIG engine back then)

Actually mine tows pretty good in the tow/haul mode.

Yes its slow, but I didnot want another diesel and a V10 for daily driving is insane IMO.
So I will take my 14 M.P.G. f-350 for daily driving and it tows my truck just fine.
Is it the best set-up out there? NO. But like one guy says . It serves my needs.
Besides if I need to go fast ,I have my 10 second lightning.

I, too, have an '02 SD Supercab with an 8 foot bed with the 5.4L and it serves me just fine. Like the man says here I've pulled boats (cabin type) up to 26 feet long a couple hundred miles at a time with no problems.

I didn't buy a truck and expect a race car. If I want to go fast I get on the 1250 GXR with its tuned exhaust and other fixings (at 158 HP) and then I can beat most things on the road.

Get in touch with these people. I am sure they can help you. Very nice people and know their stuff. I have a 97 250 H/D no miles (34,000) and a 460ci motor.
It ran like I was pulling a cement truck. They helped me put some lipstick on that pig.

I dealt with Anita and she was great. Now I will not win any drag races but the truck actually feels lighter. You have a newer truck and more options.
