You will NOT be disapointed with the 250 on the highway. I cruze along like nobodys buisness and I only have the old school leaf springs up front. Even with PA's horrible low bid roads, the superdutys weigh so much that it absorbs most of the bumps. Throw more weight in the back and the better it runs.
Mods? I bet there is easily twice as much money being spent on hopping up diesels than the 150s. www.dieselinnovations.com is my favorite vendor.

A few friends say after you get some miles on it you get better fuel mileage and with a tuner added you get more power. I drove one once and liked the power it had stock,The oil changes cost more then the gas engines. If I had a trailer to pull I would have got me a diesel they are great for power.

Lets us know how it goes. My wife didn't want to spend the extra money so I ended up with a F150 KR. Know she has offered to keep the 150 for herself and let me get the 250 because of the pricing. Very interesting offer, would have the best of both worlds in the drive.
What would be the top 3 mods (list in priority) and what could you get away with not doing. Is there an absolute mod that needs to be done or can you get away with stock.
Thanks
Chris

ABSOLUTE FIRST MOD!!!
Gauges! Put an Exhaust Gas Temp gauge in because yes, that diesel can get hot enough exhaust to start melting things. I don't recall the 6.0spec, but the 7.3L should be backed off at 1200 degrees for the engines sake. Tranny temp gauge so you dont cook that slushbox ($$$) with the monster diesel torque. The stock temp gauge is nothing but an idiot light and can't be trusted.
Exhaust. A nice free flowing BIG exhaust will sound cool and let her rip.
Tuner. Any of the several tuning programs out there are plug and play and unleash the beast known as "The Powerstroke Turbo Diesel" and will kill ricers, chebbys, dodges, space ships, ect... at will.

PS: Like me you are about to get a bad case of "diesel-itus", but have no fear...

I will pick up my 2005 F250 Crewcab FX4 6.0l PSD on Wednesday. It is replacing my 2000 F150 4x4 OR Lariat. I was looking at getting a new F150 CC FX4 Lariat about a month ago and glad I waited. When I left the dealership today, I had this truck for about $1k more than the best deal I could get on the F150.
I got an extra $1500 off the employee discount + $2000 customer cash, just by walking out the dealership in $500 increments today. Probably could of got another $500, but I had to go pick up the kids.....
Out the door with taxes, tags, and transfer fee for $34.5k

I borrowed my Dad's 2000 F350 SD V10 SC 4x4 to drive to the Smokies and left my F150 at home (the old camper shell we have fits it better). The truck is great - but his split bench seat isn't as smofy as my F150, and as expected, it is thirstier than my F150.
If you are going to use it to tow/haul, you won't be disapointed. I borrowed it a couple of years ago and several loads of gravel around 2.25 tons and one load of 3 tons of gravel in the bed, and it hauled it w/ no problems. I was cruising down the road at 60 mph with the load and was amazed how much power it still had in reserve.

F250 Diesels Are The Best
I have a f150 7700 series but my Dad has four f250's, they all rock. Two are gas burners one with 5.4 V8 the other 6.8 V10. Two diesels that are 7.3 turbo charged, and these things will go through a brick wall then some more. They are all 4x4's setting up very high but put some weights in the back then that puppy will ride like a caddy. On the highway they'll do 90 mph no problem in the middle of summer with the air on full blast and still want your foot on the peddle. I try to steel one of his 250's as much as possible but the favorite is the F250 Supercrew FX4 Lariet short wheel base. Any F250 is a head turner cause they demand respect. Michelin tires ride the best in these beasts.
