Exclamation 05 F250 5.4 w/ torq shift trans

I have an 05 F250 with the torqshift trans, 3.73LS supercrew XLT, FX4 etc....
I have 4800 miles on it and I have had nothing but trouble with the transmission. The first transmission would jurk going into rev and when it would go into the final gear or overdrive it would shift hard. took to dealer said they had to replace about 75 parts in trans to fix. That was at 1500miles. Got truck back drove for about 1500 more miles and truck was even worse than before. Took back to dealer they said trans is no good, we'll put a brand new trans in. So they did at about 4K, picked it up from the dealer and now truck hesatates has no power.... just feels crapy
If your goin about 40mph and floor it, truck hesatates jurks/serges and make noise but doesnt really go anywhere. I drove a brand new one off the lot, it had 7 miles on it and it did that too plus jurking while going into rev like my old one did. My dealer has no idea what to do. Ford is telling them to wait until they find out how to fix it. They are going to realease info sometime in the 1 quater of 05. Is anyone haveing the same problem? Any ford engineers or machanics have any info that I can share. My dealer has been great with me, they know it is a problem but have no idea how to fix. thanks

Also yesturday it would jurk and slip goin into rev again!!!! Like with the first trans. I think these torqshift trans are totally crap!!!

tq.shift 5R110W was new in 03, used w/6L PSD. Dont know if your 05 t.s. same as one used w/6L? Earlier FMC a/t not same, gas VS diesel. The 6L tranny's (TCM) can be reflashed (re-programmed), 6L actually has 3 computers (PCM-FICM-TCM) & all can be reflashed.

FWIW..ask you dealer/svc. about that. It is controlled by electonics (computer) One used w/6L, some had delays in D-N-R & R-N-D, some w/bad solinoids. Some got corrected thru reflash & others thru hardware change. Also inquire if your a/t has a learn cycle, the 6L a/t has something like that. Still a bummer!

Good luck on fix. OT

Thanks for the info, I just picked it up yesturday, again couldn't find anything wrong at this point. They know something is wrong, D N R delays after the third time from D N R. The first time it is good and the second get a little long but the third is really long about 5 to 7 sec before engaging. The Dealer told me yesturday that I have the latest flash / updates / calabrations / software that ford has. the dealer told me that they think the calibration is wrong, and that ford is working feaverishly to rework the software and they think that will help with it. Anyway my dealer is going to have a ford REP look at my truck. I still think I might have a bad trans, but maybe not. I still have the delay / sluggishness and loss of power since the first trans and the 40mph hessataion when you tromp on it. Thanks again for the info, keep it comming, this is a ausome website!!!!

Browing through this site, and thedieselstop.com, as well as ford-trucks.com, I've noticed more tranny related problems/failures with the 05's Torqueshifts, than either 03 or 04. Anyone else noticed this? Are they using different components???

What bugs? In '05 there is a specific issue with a specific part and there is a recall. Some '04's had a minor issue but they are trapped by VIN.

Geez, no one will give these new things a break I love mine!!!!

It is not an issue with given them a break. There is a lot of people having troubles with them. I love the new design of the torqshift, but I am now on my 4th trans in 5700 miles. I have only had it since Nov, 04. I paid $40,000 for this truck and I am not happy with it. I have no power and it is very very lazy. I have had differnt issues with each trans. I just found out the there is a recall on planatery gears is all 05 torqshift. That is one of my problems along with the others. The funny thing is my dealer knows something is wrong, and they dont know how to fix it. I was with a tech last night from 8pm till 11:30pm and he had is computer hooked up and was checking things and could see problems but didn't know why they were happening and didn't now how to fix. The rep was in and he was baffeld by it too.

whats happening to these trannys is the reverse planetary gears are failing and the trash gets everywhere..my buddys truck crapped out (05 6.0 P.S.D.) on the way home from sleddin one day..he'd put it in reverse..it would BANG and go in gear..funny thing is when it was in reverse ..the throttle would not respond..put it in neutral the throttle would be ok..back to rev..and nothing and so on and so on..there is still a recall on these i believe...zap!

Tranny problems

There is a recall now for the Torqshift tranny if you have the Snowplow Prep Package. A snap ring can fail and you will lose reverse...and all of the fluid!

I have a 05 with 10k and just took it in for the same issues. I was informed that there is a problem with the tranny and I could expect my back in about a week. It needs a complete rebuild. I hope it works properly when I get it back.
