I dont know why Ford put that 235hp 5.4 in the SDs. Its not strong enough for todays work days.Oh well, if anyone gets a 2000 SD with the 5.4, let us know about the performance differences.

I bought my gasser for the people mover and general use up to 3000#. I wanted the Excursion and the Suburban, but not the price...and there is a difference!

I like the 5.4, especially with the airbox mod/K&N. I hope to add the MER3 Superchip when I see enough price and preformance feedback.

What is the K&N filter number you use for the 5.4 & is the air box mod a K&N add on or something else? I agree with you about the 5.4, I love my truck! I just put a superchip in it and love it even more. What Mike says about the superchip is all truth - they are great.

Off the top of my head I cannot think of the K&N part #. It's the only one that fits all the 5.4L Fords(150/250/350)
The airbox mod is the one detailed in the tech section of www.f150online.com .

Did you get anywhere on the door marker lights?

The mod is a little different for the SD. I made an aluminum band to remount the airbox.

Thanks for the info. I will check out the tech section.

Concerning the door lights, I looked down through the window opening & couldn't see any wires for the light hook up so I tried to pull off the door panel - the black plastic piece just above the panel at the front side of the window wouldn't let me get the panel completely off. Anyway, I don't think my truck is wired for it. Any suggestion on how to get that black thing off so I can get the door panel off?

Just a quick update for all 1999 Powerstroke diesel owners, Superchips has located and defeated the top speed limiter on all the 1999 Powerstrokes. (I get many people calling & emailing me about this, so I thought I'd post it for all to see, thanks!)
