Power programmer & CPU question

A friend of mine has an F250 with just the basic hypertech programmer. Recently, his truck got broken into and the stole the handheld device along with stereo equipment, etc, etc. Anyways, his somputer is now stuck on performance mode preventing him from towing his trailer and taking it in for warranty...becasue he has no way of taking it off. My question is if he just resets the computer, will it remove the program and put it back to stock?? Thank you all for your help. Also, correct me if I'm wrong about resetting the CPU. Don't you just remove the POS battery cable and turn your headlights on to drain the capacitors, etc. for like 10 minutes. Once again, sorry for the long post and TIA...Kevin

That'll reset it, but to the program that is currently stored. I think he has no choice but to get another programmer.

If he has gauges, he can tow carefully and watch EGT's close. Of course there would be a limit depending on load and how hard it had to work....

If he wants to change his setting, he will have to get a new programmer, or go to a dealer and get his PCM reflashed to stock...
