Problems with newer diesels' transmissions?

Heard from a couple people of trouble with the newer diesels and the automatic tranny's. Specifically Reverse being hard to grab, and whining. Anyone hear of this?

if you are talking about the Torqushift 5 speed automatic, that only comes with the new 6.0L Powerstroke, i have only heard a couple cases that it seems like the tranny goes into a "limp mode" but the 2 i heard of wern't over 200 miles old. so the tranny hasn't really "learned" everything yet. but they still drove fine, it was only backing that the problem arrose. the tow/haul mode is just awsome from what i have heard.

As I recall what Mark K. said about the 6L with torq. shift a/t. The tranny was "hard code programmed" Which meant the a/t shifts would occur according to the installed program. Shifts stay the same and dont change. Maybe someone here can clarify.

However that was with early build 03's. I do not know whats happened since, as he no longer replies here or else where.

i was reading on the diesel stop a guy was out 4 weeling in the dezert, he went to back up the trailer and it felt like the tranny was in neutral. he had to put it in 4 low and almost floor it to get it to move. the wheels wern't spinning ???? another guy was backing up in his drivway to attach his trailer and the truck just wouldn't move. the drivway was a slight grade, only like 2% grade??

i think these problems were partially due to the 6.0L's PCM reprograming(reflashing). i also read that to get better performance outta the tranny you should disconnect the battery for 2 hours to reset everyting. then just go APE $H!T on it ! high speeds, flooring it at stop lights/signs, just drive it agressivly.

also alot of guys have been saying "i test drove a 6.0L Torqushift and i wasn't surprised.." somone said that the new trucks were gutless until the tranny got up to speed on the operating perameters.

I'm not sure if its a Torqueshift or not. Its a brand new 04 350 supercab, dually dump body, with the powerstroke diesel. Its a company truck that I drive but the owner had said while plowing, he got the truck in a spot where it wouldnt fall into reverse, then whined or grinded when he got it in there. I'll see if I can get more details. When he mentioned it to another guy the second guy mentioned that he had heard of problems with the "transmissions on the newer diesels"...
